Hey y'all my fellow myFICOers!
First off, let me start the week by wishing y'all a Big Financial and Credit Success! I really owe this community big time! The knowledge and advices I've gotten from here is priceless! Thank y'all again!
Now on to my post...
I am an AU on my wife's Discover that we've had since 10/2006. About a month ago, I did a CLI request online and got declined. Letter received cited a couple of her old (6+yrs) baddies still reporting on her TU report they SP'd from Dec 2016. This morning I went to our online acct and was shocked to see an auto CLI from 4.2K to 10.7K!!
Nothing really has changed from her profile other than 30 days has lapsed!
I really have no clue what made disco decide to give her an auto cli after they just turned her request down 30 days ago! Is this how unpredictable they really are? Also, have we left some money on the table? Should we push our luck and ask for some more or just let it sit for a while before clicking the luv button?
Maybe anyone with a similar experience can chime in? Or the more seasoned myFICOers can also give their 2 cents?
Congrats! Maybe your last request triggered a review or something. The school of thought here is that with Discover, a customer-initiated CLI is very favorable when an auto is given. It's only a SP, so nothing to lose. Good luck and keep us updated!
The reason given might have just been a reason to be given. When hitting the CLI button and gotten the insufficient time option as the result they give 4 generic reasons along with it for whatever reason. I would say you should probably hit the button again since they opened the door with the auto increase. It's a 50/50 shot of getting another big boost like the auto did. Never hurts to ask Disco since it's a SP
they can be unpredictable. Austin has been tracking this credit beast for a while now and it could have been it wasn't timw when your spouse went for a CLI. Congrats it jumped over 5K on you all without a HP. I knoe Discover like loyalty as well. Since 2006 is awesome!
I, too, have had the "Insufficient experience at the current credit limit" only to be given a $1,500 CLI two days later.
Perhaps borderline files go to manual review?

I keep tabs on Disco trends and this whole denial and then later on adding to your CL's is something new. It might be a glitch where the denial comes but, then they do go back and look at things or run it through again if they spot a spike in denials. It seems odd though when it comes to this type of remorse from a lender. Out of all of the lenders we see around here this is a strange thing that bucks the trend. I wouldn't count on this happening often though but definitely something to keep an eye on.

Okay, you made me laugh out loud. Again.
As to the original question, OP. Pretty much.
