I hold, in all 8 different Amex cards, including 2 for business...
Recently on one of my personal platinum accounts, I was sent an offer to use "Plan it" with zero plan it fees, so long as I enrolled the respective charges in the program by 9/31. So, having some large purchases this month, I went ahead, used the calculator to see what time horizon they would give me on them and it showed 24 months, so I made the charges on that card.
Now low and behold there is no option to add these charges to Plan it. After calling, I was told the charges surpass my "pay over time" limit on that particular card and are therefore inelligible. Nothing in my account, as far as I can see, indicated that to me--there's nothing that shows me that limit etc..
Has anyone had a similar experience and had any success in getting this rectified either by an increase in the Pay over time limit or perhaps moving those charges to another card?
TIA.
On your monthly statement, it tells you what your Pay Over Time maximum is. Located after you get past the charges list, so keep scrolling down the PDF.
For my Green card my max PoT is $5,000. For Gold and Platinum it is $35,000 each.
If you back off the value of what you are trying to put on the Plans, to less than your PoT limit, do those get accepted to create a Plan?
Candidly, I never look at statements as I simply have autopay set and manage everyhting though the portal. But I can see now on my statement that the pay over time limit is low relative to the new charges. I am hoping though that Amex has a way of rectifying this.
Amex can increase the limit but that can take time.
I had a $2K PoT limit years ago and now recently they increased it to $10K with a 20K MR bonus points for enrolling in Plan It.
