Issuers that CLI with Little Usage

Hi all,

Basically asking the reverse question from this topic here.

I read that some issuers reward usage more than others, some reward their clients with cli's when using their card a lot.

Now the thing is, I will not use my credit cards a lot. I have money, but don't have a lot of funds on my bank accounts, so paying high credit card bills each month is not worth it for me. I always PIF my credit card bills. I do know that in the future this will change. My goal is to get higher credit limits, as I do want to be able to make large purchases on my card when the situation that requires that comes along.

So, again my question: which credit card companies are more likely to give CLI's to customers who only use the card a few times per month for small purchases,?

All thought are appreciated

(except explaining more usage would be better of course Smiley Wink)

note: in the situations explained above, I always assume responsilbe lending: not maxing out cards or not paying bills and the like

From my personal experience, Bank of America/FIA has been very generous with CLIs (regardless of usage), though it is a HP.

Re: Issuers that CLI with Little Usage

I barely use my Discover card, and have gotten huge (5 figure) soft increases. Chase on the other hand has been very random, I received two auto CLI last year and none this year with consistent usage, it's like reading tea leaves trying to figure out a pattern.

Re: Issuers that CLI with Little Usage

GECRB historically has been willing to do increases with little usage; I would suggest that higher usage leads to more and larger CLI's with lenders in general: low usage YMMV.

Re: Issuers that CLI with Little Usage

Bank of America has been willing to double my limit on Cash Rewards card a few times (hard pull of course) with little spend.  GECRB has been generous even if I charge something small like a pack of gum, but I've decided to use Credit Solutions very sparingly.  Comenity seems to just go by days since last increase regardless of usage.

ETA:  Citi has granted a few CLI requests soft pull for me, with little usage.  But it's every 6 months and only if the language on the form says a hard pull will not be used.

Re: Issuers that CLI with Little Usage

Bank of America inceased me recently from 3900 to 9000.  For years, I only used it for my Netflix subscription.  About a month or two before the increase, I got them to add cash back rewards to the card, so I had some gas/grocery spending for a month (but under $200 worth).
