First, let me say that I love my Best Buy Card and I use it. It is the ONLY reason I keep doing business with these people. It also affects my util because it has such a good limit, so I can't axe it, though I am so fed up with HSBC in general, I would like to tell them to take a flying leap.
But I digress--I wanted to share and caution anyone who uses Orchard, HSBC, etc.(Not that y'all haven't heard and experienced some of this already, btu for any newcomers or people that are thinking of apping for their "builder" card...please read).
First issue--Many times I have scheduled an online payment for a few days from that date (example-I schedule a payment today to come out of my account on Friday). On several occasions, even after double checking my entries, the payment has posted the very next day, not the future date scheduled. I have, for months, thought I was going crazy. This month I scheduled a payment, realized I had the date wrong, cancelled the payment, and rescheduled it. I have an email confirming the cancelization and guess what? The amount got debited on BOTH days anyway, and now I have a $58 credit that they won't even credit to my account that has a balance.
I have had it take a week AFTER the $$$ was debited from my bank for them to post my payment online. Seriously.
Second issue-I was told that if I got my consolidation paperwork in before the end of January, they would waive the annual fee for one of the cards. I filled out the information, checked and double checked it, sent it in, and still got charged a fee. When I asked questions, I was told that I forgot to sign the paperwork. ANd they will not busge on not waiving my fee.
Uh uh. No way. I am beyond meticulous about stuff like that. They told me they would send back my form for me to sign. THEY SENT ME A BRAND NEW BLANK ONE. Why? Because they are lying.
In addition to that, I have not once recieved any of the CLIs I was promised when I signed up for their "builder" over the last 5 years, although they have been kind enough to offer me a CLI if I give them $50 for a $100 CLI, or new CCs ---for a fee. Nice.
Again, I know they are a crappy company to deal with and that MANY have had issues with them. I just wanted to share this because if I weren't the kind of person to overbudget, I might have had some bounced debit because of them....not to mention the $120 in annual fees I had to pay out because they are liars.
I fully intend to PIF this month, sock drawer the cards, and cancel in October so they can't charge me a fee next January.
Yeah allot of people her no that HSBC is trash I just made a payment on my card that there holding for 2 weeks. At the end of the day I will never apply for one of there cards again.
I have an HSBC Discover card with a whopping $300 CL. I asked them in October when they charged me a $19.00 annual fee for a CLI or waive the fee. I have never been late, never been close to the limit and have an AMX with a $5,300 limit and a Chase Platinum MC with an $8,000. They told me they are not giving any CLI but they would waive the fee, which they did. Subsequently, they cut my cash advance limit to 25% of my CL. Who cares? It's not like I would ever get a cash advance from them or anyone else, for that matter.
What I do, to avoid all their manipualtions with my money, is pay them direct from my online banking. No holds and the payment is applied within a day of two of me initiating it. I don't want these guys floating with my money!!
In the meantime, I continue to put very small purchases on the card and PIF before the statement cuts. I may close it in October when it's two years old and they again try to charge me $19.00 for a $300 CL.
I agree, the Best Buy Card store card is great, it's hard to believe that HSBC issues the card. I received a CLI the very next day after approval and my limit has nearly doubled in 1 year without any purchases. I did make a purchase of 150.00 shortly after the 2nd increase though
But I'm sorry to hear what's happening on your other hsbc cards, I don't think I have heard of anyone saying they are happy with their regular HSBC cards.
