I actually know that I don't need another Capital One card, but if there was a new offer that was attractive enough, I would app for it and in six months I'd merge one of my existing Quicksilver cards into it. Even without some new 'great' offering, I'll still be merging my two existing cards after the holidays... when I have a chance to get another CLI on each of them.
I checked the 'merge' feature just today, and (surprisingly) it seems to work for me with no trouble (I've only been date-eligible for a few days, but I had been concerned that my QS1 being a previous HSBC/Orchard might hose things up). I canceled the transaction before I completed it, but at least I know that's one hurdle I won't have to deal with when the time comes.

I hear ya bud. I'd probably end up doing the same thing. Combining limits is how I got my $11.5 QS. I have a plan to not app until 2017 when my reports will be 100% clean (except for BR) and get a few other cards. However, if Cap 1 makes a product interesting enough I may app.

But I won't. Checked the prequals for fun, the Platinum MC offers with a 22.9 APR turned into Venture and QS offers with a 17.9 ....given the increases I was given yesterday I may even be able to get a monster limit. But I'll refrain. I've gotten enough HPs this month. Back to the garden I go
How long did it take for that to happen? I am still waiting for mine to turn.
For me, apping wasn't as 'rewarding' back in the day, since most applications were done though the mail, and it took weeks to find out the answer.
CLIs were always done over the phone, or for a store card by getting the salesperson to phone for you, and it wasn't clear what would be a HP or SP because there was no instant access to credit bureau reports - it had to be assumed that all CLIs were HPs (back then, most folks weren't familiar with the terms HP or SP anyway).
Yep, the lack of "instant gratification" took much of the 'impulse' out of applying for cards, meaning most of us just applied for the accounts that we really wanted.
The "good 'ole days"... do I miss 'em? Nope, not at all!

Hehe, when I got my first credit cards Fico scoring wasn't even yet a gleam in a coder's eye.
Be happy with what you want. I'll be the Big Brother that always tells you to stop and think what you're doing. Is the price worth it? No. You can't afford 3 more HPs at this time. No, no, no. Work with what you have now and grow your history. And build your Fico scores, so you won't have to settle for those outrageous APRs.
Focus on your scores and the offers for better or equally good cards will come. Don't do it.

Maybe like a week after I paid off some super high balances and they finally reported
