Is there any real upside to this over the CSR?
United Club membership (or access, maybe?)...at least at one point.
I avoid them unless I'm going through SFO, and there I can use the Cent Lounge...hence why I never really looked into the card.
I think most of the interest in the card is for impressing dates.
No real upside per se other than some folks who may feel that having the card feel some level of exclusivity (i.e. my card looks more special than your CSR
).
But, the lowdown on benefits is listed here > https://www.chase.com/card-benefits/jpmreserve/travel

I’m married so no need to impress anyone lol, also I have the Ritz Carlton credit card which i think is equally impressive as the JPMR card.
I just figured if you are with CPC you can have access to the card, I guess that isn’t the case anymore.
On FT there are people who complain that "Goldman Sachs" isn't displayed prominently enough on that cobranded Amex Platinum and cite that motivation. So not for you, but it is a common factor!

"Oh, you STILL have the Chase Sapphire Reserve? How very 2017! I just remembered, I need to leave now."

No, it’s the same card just one is more exclusive that’s all.
Of course, if you can get it with CPC, then anyone with CPC can have one (and @FinStar seems to say this is the case). If you want a card because its "exclusive", and you find a working shortcut, doesn't the card lose most of the exclusivity? $1M is not like $10M, and $250k certainly isn't.
I'm reminded of the old Groucho Marx-ism..."I could never belong to a club that would have me as a member".
I wonder what share of Palladium customers really had 8 figures at JPM, and what share "snuck" in or were "exceptions". If exceptions become the norm, are the "stealth" customers really the target market ($250k+ instead of $10M+)?
well when i spoke to my CPC banker, he said they used to offer palladium card through CPC before.
after talking to JPM a few times they said you need $1 million not $10 million.
palladium used to be available through the branch, i don't think people needed to really sneak themsleves in to get it, the requirements for JPMR are different.
I am starting to think you may need a new banker or at least one that's accurate 50% of the time.
Maybe give him a link to the forum?
