@tray wrote:Interesting thread, as I am in the same situation as you, I have the same cl with my jcpenny 7,500 i ask for a cli last month using the online form was denied and received the same exact letter for the reason of the denial. Maybe using the online method is how much jcpenny will allow, just like with lowe's the online method will only go as far as 10,000.
Interesting, tray! Nice to hear another data point; it quite possibly may be their limit.
Wonder if it's worth experimenting in the next few months the phone CLI (in which it actually asks you for a specific limit), and see if that's any different/policy change. In reference to the other posters, it quite possibly may not even be worth continually increasing the limit, but we'll see what the future holds.
@daybreakgonesXe wrote:Okay, so this was GE's reasoning behind not increasing my CLI:
Dear daybreakgonesXe,
GE CAPITAL RETAIL BANK has recently reviewed your request to increase the credit line on your JCPenney Credit Card Account.
We are not able to assign the credit line you requested because it exceeds the amount of increase our policy allows.
Your credit line as of the date of this letter is $7500.
If we may be of further assitance, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
GE CAPITAL RETAIL BANK

Usually when they tell you it's too soon, they say "you have not had enough time at this current limit". Is this GE's way of saying I have hit the cap? Is it my personal cap, or what the company allows? Anyone else ever receive this reasoning, and know what it means exactly?
Thanks all
Maybe the LUV button has a limit. I would try calling the Credit Solutions number in the Backdoor numbers thread. It's SP, so if you've already had 4 statements cut since your last CLI, there's no harm in doing it.

With JC Pennys having their issues, they might be lowering the maximum that could be achieved. I went into one of their stores about a month ago, & I honestly do not know how anyone can spend $7,500. :-).
On a serious note, maybe you can call them and ask for a recon and say that you're looking to furnish a new house. A little white lie does not hurt sometimes
All new bedroom furniture could get you there. Or doing a new living room and dining room set. Or maybe if you went REALLY buck wild at CVS or Rite Aid using your JCP card...LOL

It could be that's the max limit for your income
+1
This could be a possibility OP. Did you try reaching out to the Credit Solutions team?

Haven't reached out yet; will likely call them when I come back from my cruise and have a little bit more free time! Definitely something to inquire, so thank you guys!
