JUNIPER ADVICES PLEASE

Rec'd preapp offer today for the MC, 7.99%, "up to" $15k limit.

I got 4 new cards in April:  Discover More (love the rewards)   Amex Green   Amex Blue    Amex Delta

With all the CLD drama going on with Amex, can't decide if/when to try to secure other lines to replace them.  I have a total of $10,600 between the Blue and Delta--my highest CLs--and currently have under $2K on the Blue as a BT (I know I know....but their CSR talked me into it!!).  Only have about 200 on Delta which will be paid off on the 15th.  Love the Green.

I haven't been hit with an Amex  CLD yet, so I'm really torn.  If I wait to see if it does happen, then I probably wont be able to get as good CL with another issuer.  But if I do apply for a new card, amex will be alerted and that might be what causes a CLD.Smiley Surprised

Just wondering if anyone can chime in with an opinion.....and any advices about Juniper:  usual CLs, CLI time lines, denial reasons, etc.

I  have a paid 1998 tax lien ($500--pd 2004) and 2  COs (paid) from 2003.  Have store cards, 2 Orchard cards, paid car loans and the new CCs above, all with perfect payment history, no other lates.  Car loans go back as far as 1997 and one of the Orchards since 1999.

Has anyone got a Juniper approval with any of these baddies?  Are they worth having?  Are they considered prime?   Should I just sit tight and hopefully find Amex will leave my CLs alone?!?!?

Any thoughts appreciated!!

Re: JUNIPER ADVICES PLEASE

I was approved for two Juniper cards with a BK from 2001 and a car loan with a voluntary repo.  One of these was from a preapproval I got in the mail, the other was a card I wanted for travelling.  Keep in mind people in this forum have different opinions about Juniper.  Some people hate them, some people have had an ok experience with them.  I am one of the latter.  I have $5,000 in credit lines with Juniper and they have treated me well.  Also, they primarily pull Transunion, so if you have fico above 650 you might try it.  Just keep in mind Juniper is a strange animal...People with scores well over 700 have had difficulties getting one of their cards.  Good Luck!!

That's what I'm worried about!  I hadn't apped for anything since 2005 (got some store cards and Orchard Visa--already had the MC for 6-7 yrs at that point) until this past April.

Once scores improved back in April,  I wanted to get a nice portfolio of prime cards and I thought I'd succeeded.....but now I read about all the CLDs......Amex giveth and Amex taketh away!

I did read another post about the numerous preapp offers he/she was getting from Juniper.  This is my first so maybe I'll just wait a while and see what happens.    Especially because I have to get a car soon....mine is barely hanging on, so it's a need, not a want.....and it'll be a  used vehicle  and a very short term loan, but a loan nonetheless....so Amex will have another reason to hate me!!

I'm encouraged to see, though, that Juniper approved even with BKs, so maybe I'd have a shot, even with my baddies.  Guess I need to just sit tight.  If I wait another 3-6 months to app, do you think that's long enough?!?!?!

Re: JUNIPER ADVICES PLEASE

I got a preapproval from TU last Nov. It was only for $500 at first. They won't give me a CLI, but I don't really care. They've given great service. I was told that they aim at the middle market from one of their CSRs. I guess that means people with OK credit that seem to be getting better with old derogs. Give Juniper a try! If you PIF and keep you TU clean, they'll give you increases.

Re: JUNIPER ADVICES PLEASE

Well, seems like general concensus is that Juniper is ok....but I just need to wait..

Re: JUNIPER ADVICES PLEASE

I've had a repo, CO, and 8 30-60 day lates before 2005. I was approved with $2500 early this year. 2 weeks ago I received an auto CLI to $3250. I've used it for 3 balance transfers so far and paid them down quickly. I like Juniper so far.

Re: JUNIPER ADVICES PLEASE

Is this where I jump in and say Juniper sucks? Smiley Happy

Supposed to behave.

P.S. I had to go to manual review because a chargeoff at the time and I guess they tagged my account as one that can't request limit increases and they can decide to lower my limit just because they feel like it. Started at $1000 and dropped to $750. Though I have a 720 on TU now I can't get them to re-review my account.
