This was one of the cards I got last year not long after my BK7 DC to start my rebuild. It was fairly new right at the time and by invitation only and I think that I got my invite through CK, but I'm not 100% sure. Well, I woke up this morning and got the following email:
No warning, no anything. I don't remember seeing any news about them having issues or anything like that, and I can't find anything on the Google machine this morning. Makes me wonder what happened to them and why they are ending their credit card program. So if anyone else happens to have one of these cards, as of this morning, it no longer is valid and your account is closed. And their website (https://www.jaspercard.com) doesn't give any information either other than it's being discontinued.
Jasper was sold to another company in June, I believe. I was planning on closing mine anyway as the lack of phone support was an issue to me. I sent them the email a couple days ago before this news hit tonight. I was looking at closing some of my rebuilders and this was the one I chose due the support issues.
The original CEO up until June was Elnor Rozenrot, and I will admit he was responsive. The new CEO is David Mes, who is part of the group that bought Jasper. I remember thinking this didn't sound good.
Interesting times. I'm sure there is a lot to this story that will never be told since it's such an unknown card. My only real complaint was the lack of phone support.
I woke up to that email as well. My account was opened at the end of June 2020, and I haven't used it in maybe 3-4 months. I'd considered closing it but decided to let it die on its own. I guess that day is today.
One of my first cards out of BK, however...wasn't using it much. The other day, thought about closing the card but the "available" helped the combined UTI. Welp...guess its closed now. ha!
Since I opened it in February 2021, I put a total of 100 bucks on it. I was closing it anyway, but I was thinking...what if someone were traveling and this is the only card available to them? Closing it with no notice is harsh. There's gotta be a back story there. I have seen other card lines closed, but don't they usually leave a little lead time during which cardholders can still use the card. I suppose they want to limit their exposure.
I used this card all the time, I planning to keep it open forever since it was a no annual fee card with cash back as well as no international fees.
I never have a issue with the card or the app, sucks that they are closing without any warning.
