Juniper

Hello,

Is Juniper considered a sub prime card?

Just curious since I have one with a 600 cl.

Thanks,
BobbyJ

Re: Juniper

you sure, have the took it back yet? infamous for adverse actions.

juni and i have no love. i will never do buis w/juni, barcley's or carnival.

appd and obtained a couple of cards durring the juni glitch and was letter canceled. uw said yep, scores are good, balances are low, just don't want you (slightly paraphrasing).

honestly, juni is universily considered sub prime, but prime is subjective. if they have the terms you feel are prime, then that's the main thing.

Re: Juniper

IMO, Yes. They tend to offer higher APRs. They have a weird payment system (try making more than one payment within a 2 week period and you'll see what I mean). Their CLs are lower. You typically can't have more than one card, but YMMV. And they are stingy on CLIs (nothing manual anyway).

Re: Juniper

My best answer -- it depends.  I have a Juni/Barclays CC that started at 2k and hit 3k on its one year b-day.  I've heard others say that their Juni cards are more sub-prime, but I'm thinking mine is on the border.

I found a cool article about Juni backing and Oregon Credit Union...  interesting info with it..

Re: Juniper

Thanks Dnm....  I dont have any prestigious CCs yet due to my Ch 13 BK (filed in 2003). It will be discharged within 2 weeks.  I have managed to establish credit since 2004 so I have all accounts reporting as good with no lates since then. I am closing my First Premier is 2 weeks after having it for a year.  Dont want to pay the annual fee.

I have 2 HSBC cards but need to hold on to them as well as the Juni for age....

Prime - Barclays id huge and multinational

Similar APRs to other reward cards

I have made multiple payments in one week

Highest CL I had when I got the card

YMMV
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Juniper

Thanks for the response Ilecs... I think I will keep the Juni for awhile since I got it in Jan 08.  I will keep it for at least a year and see what happens....

Re: Juniper

OP, don't close it...I have Junny's SeaMiles and will hold out past the 1 yr mark.

MV, maybe it is me, but my APR is over 19%. Seems high, but I PIF and don't care much (also got card when  scores were at 600). As per payments, if I make an online payment, they will put a hold on it for a day or two at the most. BUT if I make a second payment shortly after, they will reverse the availability of funds not only on the second payment but also on the first and place a hold on both of those for 2 weeks!!!

I called them and that is what their CSR told me. I posted on these forums about this and someone had given me a second. The payments showed received but the funds remain on hold. I never bounced a payment. Never over the limit. Never late.

Re: Juniper

Hey Ilecs, I will keep the card and not close it... It was my highest credit line CC given to me while still in BK so I owe them for that....  I will keep it because others including you have said that they get good credit line increases over the years....
