Hey Guys...
I was approved for a Discover More card , yeah suprised me to.....
I want to know how to maximize my rewards...
Can you pay utilities, rent? What about other recurring bills? Is there anything that won't produce rewards?
Thanks!!
You can pay utilities, as long as they take discover. My electric company only takes V/MC.
Rent depends on your landlord. Watch out as well, as some that will take your card for rent will charge you a convenience fee higher than the rewards you would get back. Don't buy anything that is a cash-equivelent transaction, and make sure to sign up for the quarterly 5% rewards.
Edit: If you don't mind me asking, do you have any bad marks on your reports? I'm interested in getting my wife one of these.
Congrats btw!
Hey.. Thanks for the info..
My apartment let's us set up online pay, so we can use bank account or credit card...
My bad marks are a Capital One charge off, which is scheduled to come off in June this year and Merrick Bank which was paid after charge off, which is also scheduled to come off in June.
I haven't had any inquiries since 09/2010.
A couple of months ago I received a mailer from discover offering $30 cash back for signing up recurring payments. I should have taken them up on it. I wonder what I did with that mailer. Hmm.....
Congrats! Welcome to the Discover Family. Sign in to your account and sign up for the cash back promotion. The 5% cash back adds up very quickly. April through June is 5% cash back on home and fashion. I wish the restaurants offer was year round. I would love that if it was possible.
Thanks Josh.. I was so suprise from what I read.. didn't think I had a chance....
From what I understand.. I going to use this card for everything I normally use my debit card for and then just pay it off...
I also have a Cap 1 with rewards, which I believe is just 1% across the board.. So will use it some times...
Another way to use your Discover is to utilize the ShopDiscover feature. If you link to a merchants website directly from Discover's site you can get cashback depending on the merchant from 5-20%. I used my card just today for a 20% cashback purchase.

I did visit the discover website and went through the shop discover.. I can't believe it..There are so many stores to use.. So tell me if i'm wrong.. So you get the regular cash back for the purchase, but then you can get additional savings when you use one of the stores linked to discover.. AndI hear some have free shipping too!!! Discover is awesome!!!
From my experience you have to visit the shop Discover and read the requirement. Some offers offer free shipping plus the additional cash back on the total. Before you visit the site it should say the % of cash back that you should receive. I have personally received a good amount of cash back. I mostly make shoe purchase on line. Especially my Nike AirForce Ones.

Hmmmm. I don't know if I've ever thought about that or not.
I have no answer for you.
