Just approved for Penfed, when should I ask for CLI?

Sweet just talked to the nicest person on the phone, got me set up with my savings acount and got instant approval for $5000 CL visa platinum card. Once its activated and good to go, have people asked for immediate increases based on the same credit report pull(ie they approved me instantly maybe I should have asked for more)?

I would wait 40 days and ask. In the meantime, use your card as much as you can and pay it in full at the end of the month.

Re: Just approved for Penfed, when should I ask for CLI?

I envy you. I had the WORST experience ever with PenFed. I did ultimately get approved but it took an entire week of faxing over documents because apparently they HATE the self employed.

With a 740 EQ, only 2 inquiries in the last year, newest account almost 2 years old, and not a single baddie I apped for $4,000 and was counter offered a measly $1000. Might as well gone AMEX after having to send Last 2 years Tax returns, P&L AND bank statements for business. EVERY time I logged in to automated system it was asking for something else, yet everytime I called and spoke to customer service supervisor they told me what I was sending was fine. I requested to speak to the loan department 4 times and they would not put me through.  I don't think I'll be seeing a CLI anytime soon.  On my last fax I gave them a piece of my mind and was expecting a full denial after that. LOL.

Good luck, it seems that everyone else loves them and has had a great experience. Hopefully you'll be able to get a CLI on the same inquiry.  I'd probably wait as close to the 90 days as possible and use the card ASAP so you can show some activity before requesting CLI, but the experts may have other advice.
