Just got Approved for CSP!!!

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I am looking to improve my credit score and my husband's credit score.

I am a stay at home mom with a husband that makes a decent 6 figure salary. I've recently today got approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card!

I have a credit score of 767 and pretty low Credit Utilization. On the other hand, my husband the one making all the money has a lower credit score than me (735) because he has a lot more loans and debts in his name than mine. His CU is pretty high, I believe 44 percent when I last checked.

I am new to the whole credit card world as my husband manges it mostly. What are your tips on lowering the CU? Should I do balance transfers over multiple credit cards or try to pay off the debt on the cards currently asap?

Also, on a side note as I have mentioned before I've just got approved for the CSP with 7k CL. Will it show up of my Chase Freedom current account under 'Credit Cards" or do I have to wait till I receive the credit card to link it to my account? I would like to do a Chase UR point transfer asap so I can redeem it for travel.

Thanks in advance for reading this post!

-Kim

Re: Just got Approved for CSP!!!

I was just recently approved for Freedom and had to wait for it to come in the mail before I could link the account to my existing Chase online banking profile.

Re: Just got Approved for CSP!!!

Yes, you will have to wait for it to come in the mail before registering it online - and you should have no issues putting that on the same online account.  Combining business and personal accounts are the ones you have to call in to get Chase to do.  I have my personal Chase checking account, Freedom account, and Ink Bold card all on the same online account.

As far as lowering his CU, paying down his balances would help.  If you add him as an authorized user and you keep your balance low that should help as well.

Re: Just got Approved for CSP!!!

How do I send a secured message?

Do I do that through my current account with the Chase Freedom card?

I would assume so.   I have a Checking account so maybe thats why my cards were Registered onto my accounts... do you know the last 4 digits of the account for the CSP?

Yes, login online, and towards the upper right you will see an option to send a secured message.

Welcome to the forum.  Contact Chase and ask them to expedite your card.  IIRC, my CSP showed on my profile a few days after I was approved.

I think all  CSP are siggys to my knowledge so i would guess at the very least a $5k CL probably a lot higher with your Credit scores
