Just got my HSBC Card, already having 'fun'.

So I registered online to set up auto payments.

My choice was 'Due Date' or another date. So I emailed them to explain I wanted to knwo when they reported, or when the statement was, as I wanted to make sure I pay on time AND that is reflected in my credit report so that I can retain a good credit history and score with them.

I got back a reply;

'To register to pay online, follow this link'

I wrote back that that is not what i asked, i had specific questions on WHEN to pay and that I already had registered to pay online.

I got back a reply;

'We are sending you a form so you can send back a void check to use the online payment feature'

I wrote back to PLEASE read my query as I wanted specific information on WHEN to pay, when they reported, etc.

I got back a reply;

'As we said, you should get the form in 10 days'

I shudder to think about my future with them.

Re: Just got my HSBC Card, already having 'fun'.

HSBC reports the last business day of the month -- in order to control util you make a payment when due (do this about 3 business days ahead of time - they lag in posting and you don't want to be late), then go back in about 4 business days befor ethe end of the montha and tweak util to be posted

You can only make 2 payments per statemen  cycle from their site (pulling from your account) - but can "push" to them from your bank's billpay as much as you want.

They are NOT my favorite card along with BBMC (managed by them) for the above reasons - # of payments allowed and reporting cycle.

I've always paid them online and never had any problems.  The statement can be seen online long before it's due.  Pay anytime but at least two days before due not including weekends.  It's really easy.

Re: Just got my HSBC Card, already having 'fun'.

Thanks Lady Scarlet. Do they have a standard due date as well or is it different for each card?

My plan is to set up alerts in Outlook as well just so I can check manually to make sure things are being done as they should. After messing up my credit previously, I plan on being perfect!

I get email alerts (set them up if necessary) for 'payment due', 'payment posted', credit posted' etc...I think these were automatic with HSBC after setting up the online payment info (I had to turn them on with Citi)...I made a folder in Outlook with sub-folders for each card and SAVE the emails from anything done online).

Re: Just got my HSBC Card, already having 'fun'.

Mine is the 15th for HSBC and BBMC -- but I opened them the same day.  I don't recall their date flipping around all over the calendar. I also have electronic statements - so as soon as the statment is available, I set up the min payment to post before the due date and just edit it as needed...
