Oh, is there a way to request electronic statements? I did that with my bank, I much prefer it. Can you also set up alerts for 'New Statement'?

Ok just looked up my new Hooters card. It says

Billing Cycle Closing Date: 3/7/08
Due Date: 04/01/08

So wouldn't I ideally want to set up my auto-payment for the 7th?

Thanks! Feels good. I really think between the new cards (paying perfectly), the dropped of disputes (more to come potentially), the Amex AU, and the dropped of Lien that in the next 6-12 months my scores should zoom. Started in 500s, currently about 660 on all. Hoping with the additions, perfect payments, drop-off, rebuckets I can be at 720 or so by end of year.

if bill is due 4/1  you should set up payment for 3/27 or 28th.  You can also have your bank do payment on-line and set up all your payments for month ahead.  Then you have your record of payment and they don't mess with you.

I think nyccc is trying to pay before the balance updates to the CRA --is that right, OP? If everything goes right, that should work, but can you tell what time of day the auto-payment will go through? I would worry that by the time the account "knows" how much to pay (the statement amount), it might already be reported.

I just keep track of when my statements drop and go in a few days beforehand and pay.

Re: Just got my HSBC Card, already having 'fun'.

I have three cards through HSBC.  Orchard has it's own website and for the other two, I use www.accountcentralonline.com.  I have not had any problems paying my bills at all.  To make sure there would be no lag between payment submitted and payment applied, I opened an HSBC online checking and savings account.  I now make all of my credit card payments through the checking account.  I know when I set up the acountcentral accounts, I was asked to select what type of notifications I wanted.  If your account uses this interface, then you should be able to indicate how far in advance you want to be notified before payment is due as well as if you want any notifications when your balance reach a certain level or a purchase is over a certain amount.

Hi, I already have an HSBC Checking Account and online banking. Do you think that is more effective then using HSBCCreditCard.com where you manage the cc?

Re: Just got my HSBC Card, already having 'fun'.

I cannot say.  I have never used the hsbccreditcard.com site.  My cards directed me to the accouncentral site.  Because I had read here that some people had problems with payments not being processed on time, I figured that having the money coming from an HSBC account would cut down my chances of having the same problem.  I got the savings account because the interest rate was nearly 4% at the time.  Both accounts were free, so I just set them up and transferred money into them.   I check my accounts a couple of times a day and as soon as I see that a bill has been generated, I submit my payment.  I also check cc and checking accounts for the next few days to make sure it has been processed.  I get notifications every step of the way.  If ever I do not, and it takes more than 3 business days for the money to either come out of my checking account or to be applied to the cc, I would call cust. service.  So far,  I have been fortunate to have not had any payment problems with the HSBC or Orchard card.

your regular bank is a good way of paying and you have a record.  you can set up the payment ahead of time with them.  So you don't have to worry just set up recurring payments.
you don't have checkiing with local bank?
