How is Chase in giving out CLIs when you run relatively low balances compares to the CL?Nonexistent. You need to push a lot of money through Chase cards to get an auto-CLI.
So let's say I was pushing 60% of my CL and PIF.. Enough?
For Chase I have applied a different strategy myself. The only time I tried to get a CLI on my Freedom I got hit with a double pull on EX/EQ and all they gave me was 500$
So I decided to go for a new account and got 16K and simply moved over 1K to the Freedom. This example showed me that I would rather take a new card (Chase has soooo many nice and useful cards) rather than trying to get a baby CLI for a double pull. For me definitely new accounts get better results with Chase.
Definitely a wise strategy as far as Chase is concerned.
I really wouldn't count on a Chase auto-CLI (I know OP wasn't asking about auto). If you're willing to give one or three hard pulls, they may ask for a reason. The one time I asked for one before I knew better, I advised my company was switching preferred airline from American to United.

Possibly even higher and making multiple payments throughout the month for better chances.
Well then! If 40K/yr+ spend isn't enough then I'll take my spend back over to Discover and try for a premium plus once the wife's CSP minimum spend is met.
*shivers*
I'd write a check before I gave Discover that much spend

Yeppers... Plus no guarantee that you'd get the "upgrade" invite. Unless you have a lot of disposable income, I mean a lot, where Discover can definitely be viable for ordinary spending - most rotating categories are capped as it is.

IME: APR too high, low starting limit. Not growing, regardless of my utilization. Now I just put the random charge on them, to keep it alive, and it's in 1st position, next time I chop.

Wife/My AU Discover It has $11,000 limit right now. More than ample enough to not have to run it past 30-40% monthly.
Everyone's experience is different but Discover has been good to my family in general. We've derived approximately 3% CB from them in the 3 1/2yrs we've had the card. Our APR is 16.24% outside of 0% promo which we've had 3 of, In fact, my mother's standard Discover APR is 7.24% and she's currently in her 2nd 0% promo.
Hell, they even approved me with a 637 EQ FICO with more than an acceptable CL ($1,800) considering how much dirt that report still has.

What's wrong w/Discover?
Where do I begin.....
1) Unprofessional customer service
2) Unethical business practices (they still owe me $15 from shopdiscover)
3) Stingier than any other lender for CLI
4) Typical 3-2-1 cash back card, they're a dime a dozen these days

I feel like they've "written me off," as the other cards I have blow them out of the water, by limits, or percentage rewards overall. Can't justify investing more time, and effort into them, if it's not returned.
Are you more like to get a CLI if you have less cards? does increasing your portfolio lower the limits of your cards overall or does it cause it to take more time to grow those limits?

Down through the years I have said all that about every card I've ever had.
