In general, how long can you keep a card in-active without the bank closing it out on you?
I have a Kay jewelers card ($0balance, good history, $6100CL) I want to make sure this card stays open because its got good history and is fantastic for my utilization. I tried calling Kay and asking how often I'd need to use the card before they auto-close it, which I understand they do, but the Rep said that wasn't something they could answer. Any one have experience with Kay? Or in general?
Thanks
I opened mine in July of 09 when I was thinking about buying a Movado watch from them on sale, but I ended up getting something else.
Never used it once, still open, still the same limit. So I guess it is a YMMV kinda thing.
I've heard a year, but I think it is a YMMV thing. I will probably sock drawer mine. I've bought two Movado watches and two diamond rings since November. They always want to pull a hard when I use it and I'm done with that crap.

I'm curious about this, as well. I got mine last December, with a 5100 CL. I bought a bracelet for my daughter, and then put the card in the SD. My watch battery died this month, so I went to Kay to replace it and put it on my card. My card is currently back to sniffing my socks. I have a couple of jewelry repairs that I'd like to have done and will probably plan on those for next month. After that, I don't foresee much use... maybe around the holidays again. But it's a wonderful card for my util, so I really want to keep it open.
I asked this question when in the store at Christmas and the manager told me 2 years of inactivity and your card will be closed. He seemed to know what he was talking about...
2 years seem about right, I had mine open for 18 months before I used it
Pretty sure its 2 years for any Sterling account (Kay, JBR, etc)
It is definitely 2 years..I called and asked that question a few months back.
