Keep CapOne open or what?

Okay, so this past week I've been approved for a Citi Forward for $1500 and AE Visa for $2300.  In addition to those, I have my Capone Journeys, with a limit of only $300, that was opened in 12/2012. What should I do with it?

Close it?

See what I can do about a CLI? (Maybe they'll have a look at my other CC's limits)?

Or should I keep it open? (Mind you, it's only been open for four months)

AE CC: $1,050 | AEO Visa: $1,890 | Cap1 QS: $2,100 | Chase Freedom: $1,000 | Citi Forward: $1,500 | Citi Double Cash: $1,000 | Discover iT: $500 | GameStop: $1,650 | Overstock: $1,700 | PayPal Smart Connect: $1,500 | Walmart $2,200

Re: Keep CapOne open or what?

At least keep it open until the AF comes due.  Just for the history and utilization, you don't have to use it.

The Journeys doesn't have an AF

Re: Keep CapOne open or what?

So why not keep it open?

Make it the snack card soda, chips, water and donuts. Keep it open

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Keep CapOne open or what?

Maybe at 6 months see if you can get a CLI? People don't generally have luck with the normal CSR, but an email to the Executive Office might do the trick. A $300 CL is kind of ridiculous, especially considering your other limits.

I'm really wanting to do the email to EO now, I opened the card on 12/11, well was approved for the card on 12/11. I was just approved last week for my other two cards, with me having 6 months of more 'credit experience' so it isn't like I was approved for the $300 limit on CapOne after getting the other two. But I feel as though letting CapOne know my other limits will give me a better chance at getting mine increased to AT LEAST $1000. And with the steps program, since I missed one payment by like two days, I have to wait like 4 or 5 more months in order to get an extremely simple $200 increase. -_-

Re: Keep CapOne open or what?

Oh sorry, I misread as opened in 12/12 and not 12/11. In that case, you've probably had the card for long enough and you do have these new cards with higher limits. I would go for it!

You could try but that late payment will not look favorable to them. 😕

I'm sorry. It was 12/12. The exact date was 12/11/12, that's why I was getting mixed up haha.

And Lexie, I had a perfectly plausible explanation for the late payment haha. I even chatted with a rep on the day the payment was due and let her know that I would be unable to pay it until two days later.  I mean, if I can't get the increase (and an online rep submitted an increase request for me tonight and said i was denied), I'll just pay off what I owe on the card and "familiarize" myself with my two new ones, so the CLI isn't a huuuge deal, though of course I'd like it to be similar to my other limits.
