I just got back from vacation and found a shiny new Kohl's card in the my mailbox with a $400 bump to my CL. I got the card in October of 2010 with a $600 instant CL in store. This would be my first unsolicited CLI in the last 10 years.
Congrats, WRider!
That's the kind of surprise you want to find in your mailbox! ![]()
I just got approved for a kohls card. $300.00 limit. I am going to use it a little and
PIF a couple times then give them a ring. When I call this is what I am going to tell them.
I really do like appreciate the little credit line you gave me but its kinda
hard to get all my shopping done since I love kohls with such a small credit
line of $300.00 I can barely purchase a few sheets for my bed then I am maxed out.
Is there anyway you kind people at kohls raise my credit limit to lets say
$1500.00 for now so I can enjoy my shopping experience..
LOL
Congrats! I've had a Kohls card for about three years now, have never received a CLI from them, still stuck at my $500 CL. I really dislike the fact that they don't have an online CLI request feature. I would have closed my account with them long ago if it weren't for the ability to use their monthly 30% off and f/s deal in conjunction with the Kohl's card.

I've gotta say, I like the pitch, book1773. I just don't know where Kohl's tops out on its credit limits.
My credit's pretty decent, and I've only got a grand with them.
Kohl's is cap1 now. I don't think Cap1 entertains customer requested CLIs
Ya I know vish.. Once I saw the kohls/cap on the hard pull. Kohls should
have used a better bank..
I got approved for a $300 limit about 3 months ago, and I've made sure to PIF every month. I called them a few weeks ago when I had my 30% coupon to see if they could raise my limit because I was hoping to buy a bunch of stuff. But they told me that the card needs to be open a minimum of 6 months before it would be eligible for a CLI.
I can't see the value of a large limit on Kohl's. The interest rate is horrible so you can't do anything but PIF. Actually, if they cut it in half, it would still be high. The only real reason to have it is the discount coupons. Many items are still overpriced even with the 30% coupons.
They are stingy with CL. Mine was opened with $1500. I only have one other card under $10K.
I don't see any problem with CapOne. I have two, opened with $18K & $20K limits. Interest rate of 7.24% on personal & 9.99% on business. Not great but not bad either.

AFAIK, they used to be chase and moved to cap1 only a few months back (prob less than 6)
