Langley FCU's Select card -- which is basically a non-rewards platinum card -- has been a great card, because of the absence of cash advance fees and balance transfer fees.
Today I received a notice which indicates that they are implementing a 3% cash advance fee, and that they are going to treat balance transfers as cash advances.
In my book that would render the card useless.
Am I missing something?

Ah that would stink. I havent tried it yet but a cash advance fee wouldnt really make it worth it . So if i took $100 from my card, id be paying $3 correct?
Yep.
And interest from day one.
I don't mind paying the interest, but I hate paying balance transfer fees.

Ok with Navy i dont get any fee to take out just the interest. Wish they wouldnt chsnge it though to be fair i havent received the email yet.
Yes I have a small collection of cards with no balance transfer fee; those are my favorite credit cards. Langley Select Visa was one of them. I hate to see it leaving the group.
I had the same experience with Alliant's platinum Visa. It used to have no balance transfer fee, then implemented one. Because of its high rate of interest, it's now dead to me. Langley's card, at least, has a modest interest rate, and therefore might be useful in a dire emergency.
But it is definitely joining the cards on my chopping block, slated for closure one of these days.
OP: IIRC, Unify FCU and PACU both have no BT fee and no cash advance fee. Noticed that you have Unify's card so it looks like you should be in good shape with them for any BT needs?
ETA: looks like according to your signature line, you have Unify's Variable-Rate VISA...jc, have you also possibly considered apping for their Fixed-Rate VISA card, that way you could have 2 Unify cards with no cash advance or BT fees?

Yes, Unify is my best overall credit card. Plus I have others with no balance transfer fee. Just regret losing Langley because it was one of my other favorites.
