Has anyone found it to be beneficial to make a large purchase before requesting a credit line increase? I guess in the end you probably really don't know if that helped or not. Overall, do you think something like that is beneficial?
I keep track of when my cards are due for CLIs and will focus my spending on cards that I am trying to grow. Problem now is I'm starting to get "too many" cards so spending isn't high on any of them unless I have a big purchase.

IMO it really depends on the issuer, some don't seem to care about spend by handing out CLIs like candy, while others like to see spend (code for not enough experience with current limit)
Who are you talking about?
Increases seem to automatically occur with some lenders when you utilize the card.
In the last three or so months, we received three increases on one of our cards. We didn't do anything special other than to spend, and pay off at the end of the month.
I can request CLIs every six months for a number of my cards (Cap 1 and Goldman Sachs Apple Card for example). Doing what I can to keep them growing. There have been times when I've received auto increases after making large purchases. Or sometimes after making a large payment. Or maybe they would just a coincidence.
