Also, why the CSP at this point with that income.   Getting it for the year for the bonus is fine (if 2k/3K spend in three months isn't an issue) but this is a card that only makes sense with a lot of spend.   The value proposition is based on the transferability of UR points to partner programs, and to do this you need a fair number of points, and thus a lot spend (after the initial bonus).   You will be paying a $95AF and not getting comparable benefits.

I guess I was considering the CSP because of the 2X points on dining, and to be honest, I do spend a lot on dining. I do understand your point though that to fully maximize the benefits of this card that I would need a larger income to support the spending I would need to do to make this card useful since it does in fact have an anual fee.

If it is just dining, why not go for the regular Sapphire? Still offers the 2x on dining, but without the $95 AF (ofc, you also don't get 2x travel with the regular one...) I think the underwriting criteria should be about the same as the CSP though...

In the meantime, what about looking into the IT and/or Quicksilver? The IT has 5% rotating categories (which together with your Freedom usually covers 2 quarters...the other 2 quarters you can use Quicksilver (1.5% on all purchases)

The regular sapphire doesn't offer the transferability feature of the preferred.

oops, completely forgot about that.... Smiley Embarassed

So then let me amend to say, Sapphire is good if you have no plans to travel for at least 12 months or so after you get it? After the 12-13 months, you can apply for the CSP and transfer all the points you've accumulated from the Sapphire over

Just curious what is chase's policy on switching back and forth between CSP and regular chase sapphire ? Meaning can you only do it once ?

Assuming you're referring to the accumulated points, you should be able to transfer as many times as you'd like between Sapphire and CSP (as long as you have a CSP)

Since you have a Freedom, I'll just mention this as well...as long as you have a CSP, you can actually transfer points between all 3 accounts -- CSP, Sapphire, Freedom (so Sapphire can transfer to Freedom or vice versa as well!)

Edited for double quoting

Sorry I don't think I was clear. I meant actual cards like going from CSP to cs to avoid annual fees when you don't plan on transferring any points but just accumulation. Maybe that is stupid question
