MsLadyRover wroteI can understand that. At the wrong time, it can be quite an inconvenience. I'm sure I would have been very annoyed had I been in the store and it happened.
But it's nice to know that they are looking out for ya.
Whenever something like this happens to me it is always after the transaction goes through. Hours and sometimes one day later they will ring and ask about it. Not sure why they do actually let it go through and then question it.

Annoyance comes in degrees. I could argue a fraudulent charge is more annoying than what happened here.
Well I look at all the cards I have everyday, so a fraudulent charge wouldn't take my by suprise.
Ooh... if I might add 2 cents here. I had this happen with my Capital One card just a little while back... they let the transactions go through and then blocked my card. I saw it blocked online and called them and they reversed charges and unblocked my card. I was still very happy.
It just happened to me again today with an Amex card. They detected and declined those transactions. Called me on my phone and didn't block my account. They replaced my card/number. Pretty happy here too.
Both organizations have caught fradulent charges and never denied my authentic charges - so I find that impressive in both cases. I would say Amex's approach was slightly better then Capital One's - in my experience of the two. But, I don't love Amex or their Customer Service as I have had issues with them. This rep I talked to today was not bad though.
