Re: Loving Macys!

Congrats!!! I just got a Macys red card in March and now have the Platinum because I met the spending requirements.  My credit line is only at $900 but I am calling every 3 months and working my way up to where I want to be.  I really love Macys and they have great customer service.

Did they automatically give you the Platinum, or did you have to request it?

I'm not Courtney, but mine was automatic.

Actually I am pretty sure they're all automatic -- based on your level of annual spending.

Well, I've had my card since 2006 and I've been at the same CL ($100) since then.  When I started reading these boards I learned I could request a CLI which I did back in March and they gave me another $100.  I get to call again tomorrow for another increase so I hope they give me more than another $100.  I think I've only been late once by a couple days back in late 2006 or early 2007 and I've paid on time since and never been over the limit.  I mean how do they expect you to go to the next tier level, with a $100 CL? Re: Loving Macys!

Macy's has been showing the luv a lot lately it seems!  I know just in the past year they've raised my CL on my Red Rewards Card from $600 up to $2,400.  Also, back in June they gave me a separate LOC for $3,000 on their deferred interest program (haven't used it yet). The LOC is also part of my card, but just a different program. It's for major purchases like furniture, etc. So now I've got a total credit line of $5,400.  I have nothing negative to say about Macy's.  I've had the card since '99 but the limit was never raised because I rarely used the card and never requested CLIs.  But when I did start asking, they delivered big time!!!  I even had the card during my BK in '01, but had a zero balance at the time and was not included in it.

I think Macy's is struggling with this economy and wants to be generous to the customers in hopes they will come in and spend!!!

Re: Loving Macys!

I could go on and on about why I like Macy's so much. Another good thing that really helped me out was that if you're running close to your due date and don't want to worry about snail mail, you can pay at any register and your account gets credited immediately. Luckily, I live close to a store and found it convenient.

Re: Loving Macys!

Don't normally shop at Macy's because they are overpriced compared to other national retailers, however I have nothing negative to say about them.  I am in "build" mode and opened an account with Macy's on a whim (my scores just went up and wanted to see what would happen).  They started me off with a $1000 limit.  I called yesterday after making my 3rd payment and was given a $400 guideline increase.  They "ENCOURAGE" customers to call every 3 months to get the credit you deserve.  Who does that. I find myself shopping there a little more due to the coupons I receive and their call center.

Macy's makes me feel good about my credit when no one else does.  Just called Cap1 to see about getting a CLI. Had card for 4 years in good standing - 1 CLI in June 07 for $200 making total limit a whopping $500. Was told no go and Cap1 is being very consertative now and giving very few increases. Hmm that is for today... what about the other 3 1/2 yrs.

Anyway ... I am kind of "liking" Macy's too Smiley Very Happy

Re: Loving Macys!

I saw some decent priced stuff online in their clearence area. Some nice bedding, towels, pots etc (I bought a pot set). Also, they have a great return policy, 180 is way more than you get at most other places. I plan to keep an eye on their sales and use my card whenever I see something that I am looking for.

Re: Loving Macys!

I called to request the gold card when I purchased $500; then the platinum when I went over $1,000.  The CS rep said they do automatically send you new cards as you reach the higher levels, but it's faster if you call.  Otherwise, I'm assuming their system would catch it within that billing cycle.
