Lowe's Card Approval Chances

Hello all I close on my first mortgage today, I sign the closing paperwork at 4pm today and take ownership of the house!  I was thinking of applying for a Lowe's Card as I need to purchase a refridgerator.  You can see my credit scores in my signature below.  Here is what is on my credit report:

3 Paid CO's from 6 years ago

2 Current Credit Accounts that have never been late: Capital One (CL$200) & AU on Discover (CL$12,000).

1 Student Loan never late

1 Personal Lon never late

AAoA of 6 years 3 months

Think I have a shot at getting approved?  Also, any other cards I might have a chance at being approved for as I may do a mini app spree and then garden to increase my scores.

Start: (4-21-13): EQ 560 (FAKO) TU 544 (FAKO) EX 549 (FAKO)
Current: (8-27-13): EQ 650 (FICO) TU 677 (FICO) EX 643 (FICO)
1st Goal: Purchase my first home (Done on 9/3/13)
2nd Goal: 700 across the board

Re: Lowe's Card Approval Chances

Your chances of approval look pretty good. Are you looking into store cards, or any specific bank?

Re: Lowe's Card Approval Chances

I would say your chances  of being approved are good. I got my Lowes card in February with a TU Fico of 670.  They gave me a starting limit of $650. After the 3rd statement and a good amount of use they increased  my limit to $5K. My fourth statement since my first increase cut yesterday and I hit the love button and limit was increased to $8500 today.

Re: Lowe's Card Approval Chances

If you're looking to have a sufficient credit limit to cover the fridge you'll need to apply uin store.  Find the fridge you want, tell the rep as he/she is ringing it up that you're interested in financing it.

Re: Lowe's Card Approval Chances

Congrats on the CLI IWOL, and yes Lowes CL grows quickly so dont be dissapointed if you get a low initial CL, some have called rigth away and explained that the purchase their going to do will not cover with the CL provided and have had success.

Thanks for the information.  Also, I am thinking of doing a mini app spree after closing to get some credit cards in the garden.  Given my information above any suggestions?

Re: Lowe's Card Approval Chances

I would go for a BOA card. From what I've read it looks like a card that will grow with you quite nicely. Plus the 123 rewards aren't to bad for a basic rewards card.

Re: Lowe's Card Approval Chances

Oh and I think you'll be good to go on the lowes card. But I definitely agree with sccredit, apply at checkout to hopefully boost the starting cl.

Re: Lowe's Card Approval Chances

My DH was approved for his Lowe's card when his scores were in the low 600s, so I think that your odds are pretty good. I'd also recommend apping in the store when you're ready to make a purchase. Congrats on the new house, and good luck with getting the card. Smiley Happy
