Lowes card question

I had a Lowe's card many years ago. It was closed after a late payment and a really bad credit profile during my divorce. I'm in a much better financial place right now and currently have two Synch cards. If I reapplied, would they reopen the account? And if the account is reopened, would it resume my prior opening date? That would greatly help my AAoA, since the account was first opened in Oct 2000. It was closed Sep 2012, but still updates every month as a paid and closed account. The comments state that the account was closed at consumers request.

Re: Lowes card question

No, it would most likely be a new account. Very rare for any credit card company to reopen an old account. Good news is if approved, its one of the Sync cards that can grow into a monster with simple phone callsSmiley Wink

As AJC says, they aren't going to reopen your old account.  Additionally, if it still is reporting ,it is adding to your AAoA regardless if it shows as closed or not, just the same as if it was an open and active account.

Re: Lowes card question

Thanks y'all. I might wait until I move back to a place that has a Lowe's nearby to consider opening it again. It was pretty weird. I haven't had anything to do with account since 2013, yet my online information was all still active. I logged on and updated my home address and statement delivery method. I thought maybe there would be a chance of reopening. Oh well!

Thank you again!

Re: Lowes card question

Yeah I'm not 100% but I think it would be a new account all together.  Not sure if it is possible for you, but the Lowe's Business card from AMEX is a pretty good card, I really like mine.  For one, it is an actual Amex so you can use it at places besides Lowe's.  It is 5% off Lowe's, 3x points for Restaurants, Office Supply Store's, and Wireless phone providers, 2x points at Lowe's, and 1x every where else.  It is also part of OPEN network, so 5% off Hertz/Fedex/Hewlett-Packard/bn.com/some flower store.  It is considered a business card, so reports separately from your personal credit report.  You can also get Amex Offers on it, and I've already used a few on it saving me about $100.  You also get 90 day purchase protection for lost/stolen.  Oh, and Amex > Synchryony.

I hardly ever see it on these boards, maybe because it is a business card, but imho I find it much better than the Lowe's store card from Synchrony.

Goodluck with whatever you do man, glad to hear things are on the up and up =D

Re: Lowes card question

Thank you, Digitek! I'll look into it when I have a little extra time on my hands. Sounds like the business AMEX would be the way to go if I decide to get back in with Lowe's.
