I'm curious as to the lowest known FICO scores out there that got approved for a Discover It card. I'm sitting in the high 600's with some late payment history from 10 months ago, and wondering whether I should pull the trigger on a Discover application.
Discover in my opinion is an odd ball. I applied for the student card over 2 years ago with scores in the 700's and got declined due to student loans.
I apply almost last year with a 684 Equifax at the time and they approved me for a starting line of 4000, i didnt have any baddies though. So that might be an issue.
Flip a coin on Discover. They're a very funny lender and definitely care more about the actual history than the score itself.
If your scores are lower than around 680 or so, be prepared for a possible counter offer for the joint card or the secured card. However, with blemishes it's an absolute crap shoot as to whether they decide to take a chance with you or not.
I am quite convinced Discover flips a coin for approval and spins a roulette wheel for CL. That's based on my reading here and my own app experience with them . I applied a week ago, EQ score was 676, Have some lates also, approved instantly online. Received my card yesterday, CL = 10.5k... almost 3x limit of my other cards. Not complaining. I really only applied because I needed a third CC and they offer free monthly TU FICO scores. Seems like a classy card with the fancy packaging. I say go for it.
I applied for myself then my spouse and got decline.
After reading about their cards on here, I think AMX Blue cash is still among the best.
Discover has been good to me lately. They have a pre qualifier. Go try it.

630's for some people for whatever reason
Interesting. How many lates do you have? What types of lates? And how recent are they? I have 2 or 3 lates from 10 months ago.

You'll have better luck finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck have no problem getting approved using it.
