Wow I never knew that... what bank is that? I have a CU cc that's fixed - 7.95%
@PullingMeSoftly wrote:Good catch @galahad15 , I thought it was fixed from my initial perusal of this card over a year ago. The apr has remained stable ever since so I didn't stop to read the fine print. I don't think they'll be changing the rate anytime soon, based on how long it's been going.
The prime rate hasn't changed since Feb 2020, so you would expect the rate to be the same as about a year ago.

They're based in Michigan, but not geofenced. I joined from far away with a small ($25?) donation to the local art museum.
But that hasn't update since 2018 tho.
You mean the membership eligibility requirements? I joined in 2020. Can't say for sure, but I don't see any reason to believe they've made undisclosed changes since then.
It's an old school CU. Takes very seriously the idea that the organization exists to serve its members. They literally give back about 40% of the interest members pay at the end of each year, and the rates they charge are good. Not all products are eligible for the giveback, but if one has to pay interest, getting such a big chunk of it back is a pretty sweet deal.
No, I didn't mean that but I would love to join. Did you get the credit card? I meant the rate, but its subject to change even after the published date. I want to know what's the current rate.
Oh, gotcha. Yep, I got the card in 2020. That was my sole reason for joining. The rate has been 6.9% the whole time.
Pics or it didn't happen...
If memory serves, @galahad15 apped unsuccessfully for the DCECU card. I was shocked by the denial because that member seemed to have a very strong profile. Maybe it was too many recently opened cards or something.
One other strange thing: their underwriter called me directly while the app was pending and asked what limit I wanted. I wasn't expecting that so I blurted out the first number that popped to mind, $10,000. They gave me that much, but I wish I had asked for more because CLIs are HP.

Hahah, appreciate it bro! It sucks that it comes with a BT fee tho of 3%, is it a HP to join the CU? Thanks.
I'm 95% sure there's no HP for membership. I had my reports frozen at the time and I remember they called to ask me to unfreeze, but that was probably for the card, not the membership. I don't know for sure what would have happened if my reports hadn't been frozen.

Thanks for the kind mention @Curious_George2! Yes I actually tried apping a total of 3x over the past 3 or so years , but alas each and every time, DCECU declined the apps, due to too many opened accounts, too much revolving debt and/or total exposure, etc. This is even though my FICO scores across all 3 CRAs are 770 - 800.
