Re: Lowest to highest APR and cards

I just got by far my lowest APR card in the mail yesterday - the FNBO Prime Visa. No rewards, just a stupid low APR equal to the prime rate. With that APR and a very useful $9400 CL, this can easily be the home improvement and tuition card.

Congrats @Anonymous , that is definitely an excellent / unbeatable low-rate APR for sure!  Very happy for you...  Smiley Happy

Re: Lowest to highest APR and cards

Thanks @galahad15 - figuring in the AF makes the effective APR higher than that but it's a pretty trivial fee compared to what I'd save versus a typical 20+% APR on a larger balance revolved awhile. I'm looking to renovate my kitchen soon so this card may get a workout on supplies.

And therein lies the rub.  ^^  If you're going to use the card for the low limit, it's a fantastic deal unless you're willing and able to get 0% and low fee BT offers.   It's competitive with a 3.5-4% BT fee card offer at 0% APR, but it would be uncapped on the timeframe to pay it back, so you can milk it for a few years if you need to.

I would love to have this card for contingencies, but if you're not planning to really use it, there's no point in paying an AF.  I like having low-APR cards just for an emergency.  So I choose to get as low as I can with no AF, such as the 5.99% APR on the Navy Federal Platinum card.

Good for you, @Anonymous!  I'm sure DW is very pleased and looking forward to an improved kitchen!  Are you going to use your Lowe's and Home Depot cards also?

Re: Lowest to highest APR and cards

@Aim_High  I agree completely. I don't have others as low as 5.99% but my local CU card is in the 9% range which is still good. I will be splitting purchases between that one, FNBO, Home Depot, and Lowe's. I have enough head room on Lowe's to easily do it all there but I've been around too long to put that kind of spend on a Synch card if I can't pay it off in a couple months lol.

Very impressive, @CreditCuriosity. I have a credit union card at 9.0% and AMEX BCP at 12.99%. Everything else is much higher than I would like.
