Re: MINT.COM IS AWESOME!!

I've never had any worries about security issues using mint.com.  I just wish I knew how to get it to be more up to date. Its always SO behind even after it does the "refresh" thing when I first log in -- when I look at the transactions, its like 3-4 days behind.  Also, I don't like how it puts my insurance in with the credit cards and I can't reconfigure it to put things where they belong. I keep hoping they will update it to be more customizable or, I will learn what I'm doing wrong in using it!

I can help/guide you how to customize your items... sometimes when I pay for fuel it shows as a "food expense" esp. from places like Fastmart, etc.

You know how you can "edit" the information on each item you've spent on to different categories?

Go to the TRANSACTIONS page then click on your insurance expense, select CATEGORY then pick under which category you want to update it as. Once you're done selecting click on "EDIT DETAILS" and there you will find "DETAILS / STATUS / RULES / TAGS / NOTES" under RULES there should be a BOX option that says "Always remame XXXX as XXXX and categorize as XXXXXX"

let me know if you need additional help! Smiley Happy

Re: MINT.COM IS AWESOME!!

Thank you, I'll give that a shot.  I thought it might "just be me" -- Smiley Wink and NOT mint.com.   How do you get it to refresh everything to be more up to date?

Re: MINT.COM IS AWESOME!!

Mint doesn't show pending charges on your accounts.  Only charges that have actually posted.  That may be why things are a few days behind.

Starting Score: MyFico TU: 621 EQ: 610
Current Score: Discover TU: 829 Discover EX: 827
Goal Score: 700's baby! (made it 4/10/2013!)
New Goal: 830!!

You're welcome. I'm not sure about making it more up to date Smiley Indifferent I usually double check my bank accounts to see if things I've purchased have already cleared. Right now on my Mint account it is showing a couple of "pending" transactions that have already cleared on my bank accounts. I just noticed there's one Gas & Fuel "pending" transaction from Nov 26th with a pre-authorized amount of $1! lol Smiley Surprised

Well, I tried to follow your directions but -- as the kids say: FAIL ....

I don't need to change the category on the Transactions page, the category next to the entry for my USAA Renter's Insurance there is fine, it plainly says "insurance."  But,  where do I find "Edit Details," I did not see that option on the Transactions page.

It is on the Overview page that my insurance is lumped in with the credit cards. I wish there was a way I could get my insurance out of credit cards and have there be an "Insurance" category on the Overview page.

And, I saw where mint.com is having issues getting USAA transactions to update so NO WONDER everything is so far behind for me!!!

This is why I gave up on them.

If they can ever figure how to report USAA accounts properly, I'll jump back in.

It's not just checking and CC's; I also have retirement money, etc. there.

I can't get anything close to a big picture without the USAA accounts updating.
