I am at the beginning stages of moving my credit in a good direction.
Last Year without doing any real research I was naive and added quite a few Hard Inquiries for credit (5)
I have only 2 loans through Conn's on my CR which are all paid on time and one even being early.
so my beginning credit is in the lower 600's currently, what route should I go in raising it?
I've seen people suggest student cards, which I am aware I may still not even qualify for until those Hard Inquiries go away on my FICO (about 1 month away)
Although I also think getting a secured card better, are there any that then become regular cards after a while?
Any advice will be appreciated!!
sorry also will be saying that I am a full-time student with a part time position.
did you ever late on your loan ???
How come your score in low 600 if there's no negative ???
What score did you get ?? Fico score????
You sure there wasnt any baddie on your report ???
hmmmm
I do not believe there are any negatives other than my Hard Inquiries.
All on time payments as well on my loans!
Are you suggesting that there may still be something incorrect?
My score should now be listed in my sig.
it's probably something hold your score back.
I would wait until those inquiry gone which you said after 1 months then see if your score increase a lil bit.
There 3 or maybe 4 card i would suggest :
Well, the only ones I have looked into are the DiscoverIT Student and the Journey Capital One Student.
It looks like as of now I would not even be approved though.
I would like to avoid the Secured route at all costs.
I bank with Chase so I know they have fairly high requirements on their cards (one of those dumb young application moments from last year)
So just to keep informed, I found out that Conn's is not reporting my payment on my 2nd account. the total amount was at $1,255 and is not only at $530 with 18 months left still to pay off (this will be the 2nd one I'll pay off early) does anyone know if I can dispute the CR saying I owe almost $1,000!!!!
Or should I apply for a card through phone to explain issue?
Also, looks like maybe I should just go the secured route?
So, I took a few peoples suggestions and applied for Cap1 Journey (10 days and letter not surprised)
Then applied for BoA Student card (same) but, decided to take them up on their secured because of the comments, but that limit will be at $300!
I'm excited for my first card, but was wondering if I should call Cap1 and Recon it since the only "baddies" are those inquiries or should I just be happy with my secured for now?
I also will be paying off Conn's Friday since they are not reporting properly.. Does anyone know how long that will take to report?
I would call Cap One just to inquire about the status of the card; you are not necessarily declined just because of a 10 day message.
Banks do not have to report any information. If they do report, it has to be accurate, but there is no set time frame they have to report in. This may be why the information is not updated. I would recommend a quick phone call to inquire about their reporting habits, and request it to be updated if needed.
