Now, when you get to the Top of the List tier level (i.e. Black Card - I love mine!), that's when those points start really adding up (not to mention the perks), provided you shop frequently at Bloomingdale's and when using the AmEx outside of the store/online.

Agreed, ddemari. And within store, Nordstrom has better prices for the same high- end items. Nordstrom will also price match.

Ive already made top of the list this year. My last purchase put me at 3800 this calendar year. I had plans for that amex

Awesome, then you're familiar with the program.  Text your brother and find out what can be done to get you the AmEx version.  Even if you have to take the HP (up to you though) it may be worth a try.  Since you're a pretty bold person when it comes to these things, I'm thinking the reward may be worth it.  Again, just my .02c

Did they change who they pull for new apps?  I thought it was EX for a while but maybe things changed after the system upgrades?

When i requested bloomies cli they hard pulled Tu and gave me 11k increase. He said the amex is still upgradeable and easy to get.
Im waiting for him to elaborate. Lol

It makes no sense to upgrade these higher limit store cards now as it would potentially increase liability due to being able to be used outside the store. I guess all those easy consolidations and increases were for naught for those that participated.

Not all of the store cards are higher limit ones - some of us have 2k-4k store cards for Bloomingdale's.
