Macy's new account

So Macy's was having big sale this weekend and since I'm blacklisted, got my mom to go in and open account.  Approved instantly but doesn't tell cl, so we just started shopping.
Turns out credit line was $1000.  We had  2 $900 transactions, so second one was declined.
Called and talked to credit and after a few min. they said they would not increase credit line but would approve the charge!
Why allow someone to go over limit by over $700 but not increase the cl?
Hopefully this sets the account up for very good cli after pay the bill next week.

Congratulation on your families new account. I think that just like jcpenny, macy allows you to go over your limit for big purchases hoping that you wouldn't pif and more fees on you which equals more money for then.

Sometimes these company actually have a different credit limit for big purchases and all one has to do is call and if the account is in good standing they should approve.

Those are big purchases. Did your mom buy furniture, beds, or the like?

I have the card now for $1500 CL. DW and I bought a new bed a couple weeks ago and told the lady that we only had a finite amount as a CL (was $800 CL at time of purchase). The bed was about $2k. I thought they were going to give a CLI, but instead they gave me a "Flex" account. This account (I don't know if there is a CL or not) is used only for special purchases like furniture and has no impact on your revolving balance. FYI, anyway.

Re: Macy's new account

Do they give credit line increases on their Jewlery, Furniture accounts? I heard they do for their regular cards, but heard that you have to actually purchase something larger than your credit line in order to get them to raise those type of accounts??

Thanks!
