Re: Macys & Bloomingdales

I couldn't take it anymore!!  Called Bloomingdales for GLI.

currently at $4100. I asked to go to $7500.

They gave me $1100, taking the account to $5200.

I love it!

really tempted to put in for upgrade to visa also, but it is a hard pull and takes about 30 days to get an answer.

Re: Macys & Bloomingdales

oh and they did away with the 4 levels like Macy's has... you are either white card (premier insider) or Black card Ultimate Premier for spending over $2500 in one year, and he said you can't get upgraded mid year like Macy's either... I will fight that when I spend another $300, because I'm not waiting until Jan 2010 to get my rewards.

also no rewards until your ultimate premier!? I thought you at least earned $25 gift cards just not the 3% you earn at ultimate preimier.

If you have the Visa, they add in a Premier Plus (silver card)

Re: Macys & Bloomingdales

You can also just use your card to get a CLI.

I got a Bloomie's card last summer and used it to buy a pillowcase for $10 (I'm good at finding the cheapest thing on the site.)  So just a few weeks ago I figured I'd better buy something to keep the account active.

I bought kitchen stuff worth $65.  Then last night I logged on to view my bill and figure out how to pay (I'm going to pay $10 per month to show that I can carry a balance.)

I was shocked to see that the CL, which was $1,000, jumped up to $2,500 just from making that $65 purchase.

Whee!!!!  Smiley Happy  My husband just bought some kitchen stuff with his account to try for the same effect.

It seems that Macy's is in a giving mood. I just called them and they gave me a $700 CLI w/o harding me. My  CL is $3,400.

Please don't make me call.  Please.  I have a hard time believing they'd give me anything since I used about 2% of my CL all year.

You know that you want to call. Everyone is calling.

LOL

You are soo bad!

Re: Macys & Bloomingdales

I do want to give an update....

I logged into Macys and saw that they did a card change from the red to the black, I guess this was due to the bed purchase. I checked DW's and saw that she went from Red to Gold.

Do we have to maintain these levels if we want to keep these cards? Will they mail us new cards? Since it happened at the same time for DW and myself, it is happening to everyone (assuming purchases were made)?

As I understand it from when I managed to spend enough to go from Gold to Plat, yes, you do have to maintain your spending levels to keep those cards.  Now, exactly which time frame they use to calculate your spending, I'm not sure, partly because mine wasn't automatic - I just figured I'd spent over a grand within the previous 12 months and called and asked if I could get the Plat upgrade.  For myself, I'm assuming they'll track my spending amounts for 12 months from the time I got that upgrade, but again - I'm not sure, didn't verify this with the CSR, and could be wrong.

Yes, they should mail you new cards, but if you don't get them within maybe 10 days or so, you might want to call and ask.

Re: Macys & Bloomingdales

I was totally shocked!

After reading these messages I thought I would check  mine.

Macy's CL went from 500 to 2000

Bloomingdale's CL went from 500 to 1500

And they both were opened May '08.  Balances under $100, paying the minimum each month!

Re: Macy's & Bloomingdales

Your Macy's card level is based on your spending history for the previous calendar year.  I have known of customers spending a significant amount in a short time and calling to request a card level increase.

I talked to DW and mentioned that we'd have to maintain our purchases over time if we want to keep the cards. She smiled and said, "we could always use more beds and furniture." Oh boy.

Macy's designed a very clever store card, what with the tiers and CLI's and all.

Very, very, very, very clever. Talk about creating and maintaining customer loyalty. Smiley Wink
