Macys card payment question?

My boyfriend opened a macys credit card because we shop there and often there are the cardholders only discounts etc.. but since I tend to buy more I often use my own checking account to pay off his card, but when he tried to use his own checking account to pay off the card last month, it rejected his payment but worked when I used mine since the payment date was coming due... and it accepted my payment... weird as hell seeing that the card is under his name.. hmmm

Re: Macys card payment question?

Thats odd, credit companies don't care who pays as long as it gets paid but here is some thoughts.

Was there money in his account?
Wrong routing or checking number?

There was money in his bank account, the payment was only for $32, & that's what we thought at first (wrong #s) tried again to no avail :l

I also have more than one account linked to Macy's and Bloomingdales... Never had a problem. I would call but be warned, Macy's is the worst cc customer service out there. Had an account with them for 20 years and can't say I've ever had a really positive experience when calling them.

Re: Macys card payment question?

Changing the bank account shouldn't be an issue... over the last few years I've used my own checking account to pay a Synchrony account not in my name more than once, and it wasn't a problem at all.

If nothing else works, I would delete the checking account from the online profile altogether, and try adding the new one then.  It might be that the system thinks you're trying to 'edit' an existing account, which might be problematic.

If nothing else works, I would call a CSR to see if they could delete the account from the profile on their end, but this would be my last resort (as others have mentioned, they don't have the best rep right now).

I know this isn't what the thread is about, but I feel compelled to mention that it might be easier to pay the account directly from your checking account's bill pay... that's how I generally pay my cards (including my four Synchrony accounts) and it works great.  It usually takes two days to post, but you never have to be concerned with things such as this.  Just my 2¢.  Smiley Wink
