I know Macys doesn't report your credit limit to the CRA's but why don't they at least put it on your statement so you know how much you have?
they don't tell you what your limit is either??? what a weird card! i'm glad i don't shop there
I've always wondered this myself! The only way you know your limit is to call their toll free # to hear it. I find that really annoying- Bloomie's is the same way (same company I believe...)
Exactly. It's kind of silly that they don't display your credit limit on your statement OR when viewing your account online. You have to call and navigate their almost labyrinthine-like automated system. JCPenneys has everything displayed so nicely whenever you log on.
Macy's revolving account interest rate is like at a 24.99% APR
Although Macys doesnt report their limits which is the weirdest thing for a card, when I got my Macys 3 years ago, I got a $100 CL
then last year July, I called and they increased my limit to $300 (when my TU was under 600) .I should call them and ask for another CL. I noticed that they did hit me with a hard pull on TU.
I've stopped shopping at Macy's because of this ridiculous policy with their credit card.
I really just don't understand what all the work up is. 80% of the board seems to dream of getting an Amex Zync or Gold Charge and no one really ever complains that they can't see their internal CL.
Macys (Thought) it would help customers to have a moving internal CL similar to Amex so you could in theory possibly spend much higher then you use to be able to with a set hard limit. I think this worked out better for the customers with CL's under lets say 1k and then people like myself who had a $10,700 CL on Store when they removed CL's on credit reports HURT me because of the loss of util balance off other cards with balance.
Similar to Amex you can call in and say I would like to go to store today and spend $2500 will it be approved an they can tell you in minutes.
no point in asking for a CLI when you really don't have a CL besides internally.
AND to the poster that took a hard, the rep did it wrong, Macy's is a SOFT for CLI, when they might do a hard is for furniture lines or jewelry lines but even those I have never taken a hard on. oh and hard if you try to upgrade from store to amex account.
Also the reps have been saying for a couple months that they expect CL's back by first of next year to do the outrage of cardholders.

If you have the store/CC combo, CLIs are hard.

No!
I have had Macy's Visa since 2008. Store Card $1000, Visa $2000.
Day card was opened charged $1000, made a payment and then charged another $1500... they gave a temporary CLI to allow the charge.
3 month mark CLI store to I believe $2000 or $3000 and CLI Visa to $5000 = NO HARD
6 month mark CLI store to $10,000 (I asked for $7500 and she came back and said computer said $10k if you want it) Visa I think I went to 10k. NO HARD
Opened furniture line of $3600 = NO PULL
between 9-12 months CLI Store to $10,700 and an auto CLI Visa to $12k
Fast forward almost 2 years:
Opened another furniture line for $5800, charged another $2500 on Store that wouldn't fit on furniture line and Visa now Amex was almost maxed out 12k = NO HARD
6 months or so asked for a reduced interest/payment plan on Amex so it was closed but they did not close store card or furniture card and left CL intact.
2 months go by and came into some money so completely paid store, furniture and amex.
Asked to re-open Amex (this was a hard) they opened at $500 (clearly far from the 12k I had but considering!)
last month hit 3 months on Amex and CLI to $2k = NO HARD
Every rep I have ever spoke to says CLI are soft, furniture lines MAY be hard but never have been for me.
They have been very good to me despite me making some errors
