Macys

Ok guys the temptation from the forums and the store itself has dragged me in--I apped for Macys last night in the store and was approved for 600 limit to start ---

Does anyone know how often they give CLI---(do they do it according to your spending) the offered some additional savings for use within the first 2 days--I am going to use it--and pay it off this Friday so when the added credit line reports it reports as no balance Smiley Happy

Getting smart at this a little bit---Smiley Happy

Also I noticed they offer different level cards do they start everyone with the same card and then you graduate or does it depend on the limit

Just wondering

Re: Macys

Everyone starts off with the Red Card... after 500.00 spending in a year you graduate to gold.  Not sure about platinum but I tink elite is 2500.00.  My understanding is that after 3 mos of on time payments you ca ncall for a guideline increase or CLI as we like to call it.

Re: Macys

Hey I am not sure which one they pulled from havent gotten an update yet however when I find out I will let you know my scores are in the low to mid 600s though and I had a BK back in 2003 and no lates on anything on my credit in the past year---have opened several new accounts in the past 6 mos--I would think they probably pulled Equifax since I am here in VA though----Funny though I went to Walmart and applied and used the same credit card for verification purposes and got the same CL for both companies and applied 3 weeks apart Smiley Happy Walmart pulled Equifax

Re: Macys

They gave me $100 for online App. After 2 months they increased it to $200. I like Macy's and once I start buying new clothes and suites ( to celebrate once I join the 700 club) I am sure they will upgrade me to eilte and give me their visa card. I love shopping at Macy's. They have one of the excellent customer support I have ever seen.

Re: Macys

I had received the card back in September for $300 asked for an immediate CLI and mentioned I was doing some early Christmas shopping. They turned me down because it was too new. I used it then for $30 and paid it off. Fast foward to Sunday, I called and again asked for a CLI. They said they needed "90 days of good payments" before they would consider a CLI, or GLI as they called it. I countered that I have received three bills and that all three have been PIF (I know I only charged the card once, but still a $0 balance). The friendly rep countered that if I were to call in mid January I would be guaranteed a CLI. In my experience, you don't need to charge the card to get that CLI.

Re: Macys

I received a $600 CL when I started, then after a year they doubled my credit limit, well, that's when I noticed that it had gone up. Be patient, it will all pay off.

Re: Macys

That's a decent starting cl AWLEGZ.

I applied for a Macy's card about 3 weeks ago online and instantly approved for $300. Smiley Sad

I immediately called CSR, and told them to close the card if the opening cl wasn't higher. The csr asked me some credit questions about 2 of my other store cards, and she came back saying that the opening limit will be $600. I'm keeping the card, btw. Smiley Happy

Re: Macys

Care for it well - it is managed by Citi.  Also, check the box to allow partner companies to provide you offers (Exxon, Citgo, 66, Home Depot, Bloomies, etc) - Citi offered me an MC 10 months after my first card (exxon) with them....

GET IN GOOD WITH THEM!!!

Re: Macys

So why is everybody's Macy's accountmangaed by Citi but mine?  Or are they the same as FNDB.
