I need some advice! I got a Macys card last year with 300 credit limit. I use the card sometimes and whenever I charged the card to 350 and paid it down my limit decreased, paid it down even more it decreased again. Then this week I called to ask why the rep could not give me an explanation. I asked who do I speak with to close the account and she said she could close it. My phone call dropped and I lost her. Now my account is closed. I never authorized anyone to close the account. Do I fight to get it reopen or leave it alone? The credit limit dropped down to 100.00. Yeah I know that's not worth it but will this hurt my score?
It will not hurt score if it is paid in full. The fact you wanted to speak to someone about closing it gave her the right. It's not a privilege. However even if called dropped you expressed your wishes to rep of company Wish granted. This happens out of anger or frustration. All you can do is apply again and hope they approve you. There is something you did for them to lower limit. Even f you do not know what it is. No they don't have to tell you either. So. Move on or re apply. I would look at my report before i applied. Good luck.
If you still want the account, you will need to call quickly. Most CCC will not reopen accounts that have been closed more than 30 days.
As long as you pay the balance in full, the closed account will not hurt you. It will stay on your account for 10 years or so. However, carrying a balance on a store card with a high interest rate can hurt your finances.

And that's why they took AA against you. You consistently went over CL, so they balance chased you. If you needed to go above your CL, you probably should have requested a CLI, so that this would all be avoided.
I would call in and say that you closed your account by mistake. If you act quickly, they should be able to reopen. If need be, call one of the Backdoor numbers for Macy's from the sticky thread.
Yes I agree. Hopefully it's not lost. But try ASAP. I'm surprised they let him go over credit limit.

I agree. One member did this and received an HP for doing so. They essentially treated it as a request for more credit.
I love macys ! I opened my account Feb 2014 with a start limit of $400. I'm now up to $2,500 within 7 months . I have a Jewlery account ( club ) at $2,300 limit with a $202 balance, and a furniture account with $5,000 limit with a $1,754 balance ( 24 month 0% interest on Matteress ). Also I have a. $500 balance on my clothes ( revolving ) account.
To OP, if you needed more spending power all you had to do was ask for a CLi. It's a SP
I also have applied for the Macys Amex and it was a hard pull . I wasn't approved so they removed the inquiry off my reports within 2 weeks.
i received a letter from them saying " Macy's have sent a request to Experian to have an inquiry removed that was done on July 10th.
Use your account properly & faithfully and they will be good to you.
