Making AMEX Payment In Two Parts?

My AMEX statment just closed and I have made a big purchase that has basically tripled my normal bill. I have the money for that purchase in another account and i was wondering if any funny business would happen if I payed that portion of the payment from that account and then the "normal charges" portion from my normal checking account?

Thanks

Re: Making AMEX Payment In Two Parts?

You should be fine as Amex has I think 3 payment options  online, phone, mail. You can use multiple payment method as along as it converts to real hard cash for them. So go ahead and pay with one account and then pay with another account.

However ocne you make a payment you have to wait until the payment is posted on your account before making the next payment as it will not allow you to make two payment at the sametime.

Current Score: 771 - 11/21/2012/ Amex Pull
Late Payment: 0 / Collections: 0

Nope. AMEX really does not care what account you pay from, just that you pay. I make multiple payments sometimes, and have never had a problem from it.

yeah ive payed before the statment cut no problem, just so i could have a zero balance showing. But this time im just double checking because i read people not being allowed to pay their bill and other crazy things like that.

Re: Making AMEX Payment In Two Parts?

You should have no problem.   I schedule two payments from two different accounts on the same day on the 1st of every month.   The first payment comes from my checking account. The second payment comes from my husbands checking account.

These are technically joint accounts, but our Direct Deposits go to our respective accounts.  Since we both use the card (my DH is an AU), we both pay the bill.

For example...   The bill is roughly $3600.

I pay $1600 from his account, and $2000 from my account. I schedule the payments at the same time (during the same browsing session or mobile app session) with no issue from americanexpress.com.  If I log off, and log on, I think there is an issue with stacking the payments.
