Making a Payment one day before closing date?

I want to bring a CC account to 0, if I make a online payment today, with the closing being tomorrow. Will it report a 0 balance to CRAs or is a day before to late?

Depends on the lender.  Some are super quick to update, some take a day or two.

Yup, what @Anonymous said. And if it's Chase in particular, they will report whenever you pay to zero.

Some lenders will also update a report mid-cycle if you call and ask, in case a balance does end up reporting.

Thirding the depends on lender. AmEx pulls the payment almost instantly, BoA gives the credit instantly but updates the next day (at least for checking customers), Chase gives the credit instantly but might not pull for a couple days, PenFed takes forever but I think they give the credit right away.

Whatever you do, just make sure you initiate it from the card website and not from your checking account. As long as they know the payment has started, you have a better chance.
