Re: Making sure I don't check my credit too early

Well that makes two of us bud....because I don't believe that you have chase id protector, or you'd know that you can request an updated report as often as you like. Go sign up for the free trial and then tell me that you can't.

Re: Making sure I don't check my credit too early

Maybe you had requested an updated report within 24 hours of yesterday's pull, so yesterday it gave you a bogus non-updated one.  Then the one today was not within 24 hours of the last time you updated?

I just know that just about every service makes you wait 24+1

AMEX makes me wait 24 hrs + 1min for credit secure

They don't make me wait 24 hours. I can check it at night and then pull a new on the next morning. Credit Secure goes by calendar date, not a time stamp. TC, on the other hand, makes you wait the full 24 + 1.

Re: Making sure I don't check my credit too early

It makes sense that you should only pull every 24 hours, but nowhere on the chase id protection service does it say that. I can request an updated report as often as I want. I requested FIVE of them today to check it out  and it appeared to issue a new report (said please wait, your new report is seconds away).

I would not be surprised if this is a bogus report, but one would think that when you click the update button, it would tell you that you need to wait 24 hours.
I will test this by requesting an updated report tomorrow morning and see if the date on it changes or it is still today's date and just the old report looking like it's a new one.

This is correct.

Amex CS = once per calendar date, regardless of time of day
TC and anything that uses TC behind the scenes, including CIDP = once per 24 hours + 1 minute

Re: Making sure I don't check my credit too early

Hey guys, Thanks for all of your responses on this. I didn't know what was included in that Chase ID Protection package and now that I do, I'm currently on my free trial. It's good to see how many inquiries I have because I've always wondered (4 Experian, 2 Transunion, 1 Equifax)

However, I'm in a little bit of a predicament again. I cleared my balances to $0 so that my report would reflect no balance (actually, I heard about that 1%-9% deal and bought something small), but I had an emergency payment to make for my tuition and that $533 is really going to drag on my utilization.

I can TRY really hard to pay it off before the card reports, but I'll have to strain to do that. My closing date is the 20th on one card and 21st on the other... My question is, if I pay them both off in full (or leave just a 5% balance) on the 24th, when I check my credit scores sometime on the first week of September, will my $0 balance due to payment be reflected or will the reports still see my ridiculous utilization?

Virtually all cards will report the balance as of the statement "closing" date, so in your scenario the high balance(s) will report if not paid in full prior to the 20th/21st. (In most cases you can pay on the statement date if it's before a certain time--generally before Noon or 3:00pm depending on issuer).
Rust never sleeps and neither does my fico score...
