I thought the lady I called was the credit analyst. She sounded like the administrative assistant upset she was late for her smoke break. . . LOL
Update:
Called the recon number again, and this time I met a very nice lady over the phone. I expressed my concern(s) about apping too soon after my CSP approval and she told me not to worry. She took a look into the system and told me that everything looks "good" but the computer system is still "pending." I asked her if it was upset with my Marriot application being too close to the CSP, and she said if that was the case then she'd be able to tell me, but that isn't the problem. Lastly, I asked her politely if I was denied and had to wait for the letter in the mail and she told me no. She asked me to be patient, and reminded me everything looked good on her end. I did verify my address and SSN.
Does anyone have a similar experience like mine? I asked her if she knew my credit score from the CSP pull and she said no. She said the FICO score is only disclosed in the event of a denial. Since I wasn't denied, she doesn't have that information. Moreover, she mentioned how CHASE has an unusually different approval process not solely based on our FICO score.
Anyone with a similar experience? I thought the Credit Analyst was the person to talk to. She made it seem like the computer sometimes "locks" them out. . .?
This situation seems very odd to me.
Have you had any fraud alerts on your credit report recently??
Recons are not always a go. Some Credit Analysts simply don't like to talk to people. It's unfortunate, but in a typical card app scenario, most credit analysts don't really interact with people- so they can be a fickle bunch LOL...
Anyhow, good luck... I bet you get approved for it!!
Keep us update when you do!
@massdefect wrote:The Marriot Rewards Premier. What is the likelihood of a successful app? I got the dreaded wait "for 7-10" further review e-mail just like I did with the CSP.
Impossible to say without any information to go on. Understanding why you got 7-10 days for the CSP would help you to understand why they need more time for approval.
@massdefect wrote:Is Chase historically slow relative to other cards?
Nope. Manual review (7-10 days, etc) always takes more time regardless of creditor. MY first 2 Chase approval were instant. Second two required recon.
It's been approx. seven business days, and no new information. This is odd. I don't want to call again, but I cannot figure out what is going on. . .
Wouldn't either one of the credit analysts inform me of a denial, if this was the case?
Thanks.
I was actually issued the free night certificate a couple days after applying.got the email for it and saw it on my marriott account. Thats how i knew I was approved even before they sent the card
Interesting. Did you apply via the internal link for the Marriot CC? Where did you find the free night cert. within the Marriot Rewards portal?
Yeah I got an email saying "your Free night reward from marriott credit card has arrived" and then I logged into the marriott website and saw I had the certificate already there. But when I applied it did say it could take up to 30 days for a response

Update: called one last time. Approved for $18,000 credit limit! The guy said it took a while because the internal system beside time to verify the reward package. Apparently the Marriott Rewards Bonus is transitioning into a different promo, so he said it took longer than normal.
Chase Recap:
CSP - $16,000 (week ago)
Marriott Rewards - $18,000 (today)
$34,000 total from Chase!
Time to garden. P.S. TU 775
I believe that was worth the wait. Congrats!
By the way....wonder what changes are going to made?
