I've had a Chase Marriott Rewards Visa Card since 2003, and I finally upgraded to the Premier Plus at the beginning of the year which netted 75k points after using it for three months. It's now my everyday card, and I love the fact that I get 2 points for every dollar and 6 for Marriot dollars spent.
I've never had an American Express card and am looking at the 100k bonus offer for the Amex Bonvoy card. The offer expires on 4/24 which would put me well outside of three months if I decided to get it just before the offer expires. I have a Marriott week long resort stay in May, so that would help me push toward the 100k bonus, but I read somewhere that Marriott will not honor the rewards if two bonuses are achieved within 24 months of each other.
My question is, can any of you card experts confirm that? Should I call Amex, Marriott or both? If I won't qualify for another bonus within 24 months, then I'll just keep using my Chase Bonvoy card and wait and see what happens. But, also, I'd love to get another award as my wife and I are saving points for Hawaii.

Looks like the 24 month statement is where they'll get me. The good news is we're not due to go to Hawaii until I retire in 5 years, so I'll just wait the offer out and hope they offer it again for Amex. Thanks for your research.

We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.
This is the reason that's bothersome. A person could have never held a particular card, nor closed any accounts. Yet still are ineligible for the SUB due to other factors. But what are the "other factors"?
I feel that it's too vague and can cover any excuse they feel like at the moment.

When you apply you will get a pop-up that says your ineglible for bonus would you like to apply anyway. At that point you can click "No" and no application will go through. Its not like it is a mystery whether you will get the bonus or not.
I applied for the Hilton Ascend and got the pop-up. Next day I applied again and no pop-up. And I got the bonus as soon as I met the spend requirement.

Ideally this is the case, but there have been quite a few documented instances where people did not get the pop-up and were still denied the bonus later on.
Granted, some of these did eventually get the bonus anyway months later (even after being told they weren't eligible by a CSR) but I definitely wouldn't say the absence of a pop-up guarantees anything.

Yes I got the pop up, and I get that this part isn't a mystery. My point was that it would be nice to know why you weren't eligible, not just some vague reason. Also, websites aren't immune to glitches, so the appearance or absence of a pop up isn't always concrete. As there have been a few threads on that very topic similar to UncleB's comment.
