Marriott Rewards Card

I AM NOT APPLYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Marriott rewards member (my third choice of hotels  Smiley Happy) and I just got this offer (not preapproved, via Marriott)

A 3.90% fixed APR for the first 6 billing cycles following the opening of your account. After that, 17.49% variable

Balance Transfer APR: A 3.90% fixed APR for the first 6 billing cycles following the opening of your account. After that, 17.49% variable.

Cash Advance APR: 23.49% variable

Default APR: Up to 31.49% variable. See explanation below.b

Overdraft Advance APR: 13.99% fixed (not available in some states)

What I found interesting was:

Before completing the application, you should be able to answer "Yes" to the following statements by checking the boxes:
Yes, my credit history is clear of bankruptcy.
Yes, my credit history is clear of seriously delinquent accounts.
Yes, I have NOT been denied credit by Chase within the last 6 months.

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

I found the same thing when I was looking at a Borders card app (also Chase.) I kind of like it that they save you a hard inq with these questions, which appear to reflect automatic no's.

It would be nice if they defined "seriously delinquent accounts." A lot of people don't realize that this includes a 60-day late.

Re: Marriott Rewards Card

Hi Midnight,

I have a Chase card, I know they are supposed to be PRIME but at those rates, one has to wonder. Thank goodness my APR is nothing like that!

I work for Marriott.   As you can image they are my first choice... nothing like FREE or Friends and Family rate to make you smile.

I am not actually worried about the APR on reward cards, as I make sure I PIF them every month.  And a lot of reward cards have high APR and AFs, so I just use them for the rewards.  Slowly.  I unfortunately have a card from work so I don't get to build up many rewards  Smiley Happy

Re: Marriott Rewards Card

Wow, they really put those first 3 questions upfront and out there.

Marriott is also in my top 3 choice of hotels, but not my first. It just happens to be that just about everywhere I've stayed for work travel has been a Marriott. But as more and more Marriotts seem to be popping up (at least in the cities I frequent), I've been considering asking Chase if I can change one of my Chase products to it. With a little one, Disney is probably my first choice though.

I use Hilton, then Holiday Inn, because usually the Hiltons and Marriotts overseas are ridiculously expense - they don't have the cheaper version easily available.  Smiley Sad

More confirmation that Chase is not the card for those with lates! I know that my app last year for a Kohl's (Chase) went nowhere at a high rate of speed.

No Chase card for me, unless and until my stupid lates go bye-bye... Smiley Tongue

No worries, you're better off not doing business with Chase.
