The CSR refused to budge and then asked him his name again and ID and told him I would be e-mailing Richard Fairbanks and tell him I wasn't pleased. Well amazingly the CSR found the system now allows him to waive the fee.

I don't know why CSR refunded your fee, but it certainly wasn't because you mentioned Mr Fairbanks.

In the last 5 years, his name and email address have been mentioned  more than Santa Claus in November, and they have been "contacted" for everything from latest removal to *Give me a puppy or QS1 dies*

If anything, this post should have been a separate thread regarding a nice thing CSR did for you.

They can afford to lose customers, and they aren't (just like most lenders) worried about losing a few in order to preserve their bottom line.

Wait, so if I want a puppy, all I need to do is cut up my QS1? Where has this info been? *Gets scissors and phone*

I wonder if he switched to a different address for higher-priority emails, or else has a team of people screening his emails and forwarding most of them to regular CS.

Yes, Dick (as he wants me to call him) has switched his "real" email to richard.fairbanks123@capitalone.com

It's richard.fairbanks360@capitalone.com

Re: CLD - Any Luck Restoring Cap 1 CL?

$500 spend on 28k limits just doesnt seem to be sufficient enough spend for them anymore. Sorry guys, at least you still have the cards at usable limits.

Re: Capital One Is Watching--Pair of CLDs...

I agree with a few of the posts regarding only using a small fraction of the limit and getting snipped. I have 2 store cards with well over $20k limits and I think one has a high spend of $91 and the other is something like $200. I'm just waiting for them to CLD me. Honestly I don't really care as I have little use for either card.

Re: CLD - Any Luck Restoring Cap 1 CL?

In light of sync and CapOne lately my routine every morning before work is to check to see if my trade lines are still intact, So far I've been spared but I see it coming. My 15k Savor card gets minimal spend and the $8600 Venture almost nothing so we will see

Re: CLD - Any Luck Restoring Cap 1 CL?

I don't think anyone should be (or is) really surprised given most have limits far beyond their actual usage on the card. Capital One is just reducing their own risk at this point.

I think especially right now, the times of having high unused limits just to buffer utilization are ending. We may have our reasons for wanting to do so but ultimately it's just potential risk for the bank with no reward as the accounts are basically unused.

Re: CLD - Any Luck Restoring Cap 1 CL?

I get it.

I had $82k in TCL with Cap One among my 3 cards.

Now I have $64k.  Can't complain but it does suck.

I guess I am more shocked than upset.

My credit is better now than it was during my last CLI.

Oh well.

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

@kdm31091

I agree completely, My Savor card started at $15k and I've never asked for a CLI because I don't need or would use that much. They gave it to me and they can take it away

Out of the blue my Savor CL was dropped from $28,500 to $10,000.

Quite the gut punch.

I have a $0 balance and charge about $500 per month on it between 5-10 charges.

I usually pay it off before the statement hits.

0% offers dried up a while ago, now this.

My scores did not drop (around 720 fico8), I have not applied for credit recently, and my last Savor CLI request was over a year ago.

I have not been late on any cards and usually make at least 2 payments per month.

Same job, same income, same debt, same scores, same inquiries.

So far, my QS stands at $23,750 and my Venture stands at $30,000.

Fingers crossed.

Not happy but I get it.

Hope the data points help.

To me this is wrong on so many levels. Yeah I understand that they are the lender, they can do what they want. But you earned their business, you earned this extended credit, you did nothing wrong, yet now it's taken away and it *could* hurt your credit standing.

My story is different - I don't have the credit you have, but I worked hard to get it where it is now (like you) and to drop my CC from $6000 to $1500 without doing anything negative just doesn't seem right. This will surely affect my score somehow. I know this sounds crazy, but in cases like mine, yours and so many others on MF and beyond, who have done nothing to deserve this drop, the lenders should at least not report the drop to the CBs, or at least have a provision that such a drop was a business decision on their part and thus wont affect the credit rating/score of the customer.

I don't know, I guess I am just rambling on. But I read all these stories of people getting this done to them and it just has me worked up. Smiley Mad
