Thank you, Capital One! The CLD from $16000 to $5000 on my Quicksilver reported today and my Ex Fico 8 did go up 16 points from 788 to 804.
(Full disclosure: I just paid off a $10000 balance transfer on my Discover It. It also reported today, causing the aggregate utilization to drop from 10% to 8%).
With all the excitement around Chase and AmEx lately I totally forgot about Cap One. Just checked a minute ago and my $30k QS is still intact. I guess the supposed 2-year review period did save me this time.
Will downgrade hubby's Venture to QS shortly and we will see how long his $25k stays. That card has a zero balance and negative miles resulted from canceled hotels.com reservations. Will be interesting to see how Cap One handles it. I will have no qualms paying them back at 1 cpp.
I which I had this thread before I ask for cli on my Wallmart mastercard yesterday. I have 19K credit lime which I did get a cli back im march of this year for 1K increase. I only spend about 300 to 400 dollars each month at Wallmart. I got the document this morning on line from Cap One saying that all cap one accounts are under review at this time. Cap one rep told me that over next couple of months cap one will reviewing all accounts for usageand at this time no cli's will be given out. Question is Cap One going to cut any Wallmart account lines or they going waite to next year because it has been about year since they took over Wallmart accounts. They may not want to rock the boat with Wallmart. I do have 3 cards with Cap One a quick silver mc 4.7K a sparks bus card with cl of 2K and the wallmart mc card with limit of 19K so far have been lucky no haircuts.
The US Altitude go visa card has 4% on dining and 2% grocereies and I had great experience with US bank been with them since last August have 2 cards the Visa cash plus and The Altitude go visa card have total cl of 29.5K. I think the Altitude go card is much better then the savor card no fee..
Closed my Quicksilver tonight. Was $10k limit for years, fixed 10.9% APR. Recently cut to $5k.
The card is fine for what it does, but I've got too many others. Don't need a little $5k pebble distracting me.
Next up is Savor. Don't need an AF for minimal extra rewards. $30k limit on that one, still intact, but don't need the distraction from that one either. Not sure when I'll take steps to close it. AF is not up for several months.
After Savor is closed, no more CapOne in my wallet.
I want to make everyone aware od a possible future cld workaround. Many cap one cards offer a 0% balance transfer. Easy to move balances to tha card at no charge if you pay it off before the due date.

You cant bt between same lenders.

Well, with the 10.9% fixed APR that I had on the QS, I was doing this a couple times a year. Transfer $500, then let autopay take care of it over three payments. No interest the first month, light interest middle month, no interest in the last month. They were fully aware of that pattern, and that was not enough to keep them from lowering the limit from $10k to $5k. I would have had to post $6k in the balance transfers to convince them not to CLD, but then the interest charges ( or constant re-balance transfering ) would have gotten more expensive.
For what it's worth, for literally years I've had 'standing' BT offers on each of my Capital One cards for a no-fee BT at the usual purchase APR (which in certain circumstances can come in handy) but now even those have gone away.
Obviously this will be YMMV.
It's not a bad idea, though... my only Capital One card that didn't get CLD'ed is currenly carrying a BT (0%).
