SOFI world elite mastercard still offers the benefit.

I think most credit cards from lenders that do not offer any form of native benefits and rely only on network benefits would still have them.

Case in point, I believe my SoFi and both my Sync cards have all MC benefits, WEMC for SoFi, and WMC for my Sync cards. They literally just link to Mastercard for their "benefits".

@staticvoidmainSYNCH no longer offers cell phone protection unless its World Elite after January 1st.  Can you check on the mastercard website if your SYNCH card benefits show up when you type in your credit card number to verify benefits package?  Which card do you use for your cell phone payments and insurance?

This discussion is exactly why I feel fortunate to still have the Wells Fargo Propel and its cellphone protection that does not rely on Mastercard benefits.

ETA: but come to think of it my Paypal is just a plat MC, so wouldn't have that benefit anyway)

Do you have a World Mastercard PayPal? Mine is World Mastercard, and World has protection (this is the benefits PDF I get from my account.)

I just looked at mine and I have it (again, they just linked me to the MasterCard benefits guide — which is the point of my response, they have no specific opt-in/out on benefits. Seems they just offer it all, for now). My Sync cards, as mentioned are WMC. Regular MC does not offer it. WEMC does offer a little bit higher for claims. I do not care for any protection at this point as my phone is 5+ year old, but I do use my AMEX (Platinum Delta SkyMiles has it - $800 twice ($1600/year)).

Are you doing this in mycardbenefits.com?   This is "live" and shows what benefits MC gives you (an issuer may give their own but you are suggesting that doesn't happen with Sync)

That site does not work on my card. Maybe because my card was "upgraded" to WMC with the same card number. I am not sure, which is why the question I have for you, which you never answered, was if you have the WMC or not. Again, all Sync gives me are links to MC benefits, not Sync benefits. The document INSIDE my account has the phone protection (from MC), and the last mail (snail) they gave me had a link to MC's WORLD guide to benefits. As I said, they do not seem to have specific opt-in/opt-out MC network benefits. If they do, then that is just false advertising — and based on my experience with them, they WILL compensate you if they gave you incorrect information.

@staticvoidmainYeah, my Synch cards don't work on mycardbenefits either, so how is it possible to file a phone insurance claim if you can't even use the website?  Do you file for the claim by calling Synch or calling MC directly?

I checked my SOFI elite MC and mycardbenefits shows the option to file a phone insurance claim, so I know that at least the SOFI card still offers the benefit.

I think Synch secretly cancelled the phone protection plan and hopes no one complains.  I asked Synch customer service by e-mail and the only response I got from my 2nd e-mail was that they do not offer phone insurance but "debt relief" in case of a "claim event" - I have no idea what that means so maybe you just call up Synch and tell them you had to buy a new phone due to loss or damage and they will re-imburse you?  Or is phone protection just equal to "phone warranty"?

Well, in message 20 in this thread I said:

My bad then, I never understood that. I never really connected "platinum" with anything.

I never really made a claim to know the specifics. I will contact Sync directly (specifically, the card cobrand number itself e.g. PayPal CB line/chat). In my mind, if they tell me it is there and it's not actually there, I will let them know. As I have said—in my experience—they are more than willing to compensate me for their incompetence.

If you really need to contact MasterCard, they'll give you a number to contact them directly if the site is not working for your card. I just did not feel the need to go there just to verify the information.

Re: Mastercard Phone Protection - Jan 2022

So is there a thread of which MC issuers / banks offer the cell phone protection starting this year ?
