I wonder myself now that you bring that up. I started out with my Overstock card at $4000 in May of last year, and so far appear to be receiving CLI's at the rate of once every 3-4 months, first to $4300 and most recently to $5800. I now have five cards with CL's of $4000 or higher and I wonder if they're driving one another up (I think somebody told me last year that once I started getting cards with higher CL's, that would be a factor to help push up the limits on other cards in due course).

Starting limits that you see on credit cards definitely have something to do with your existing limits. You’re much more likely to get cards in the $10,000 range if you have existing cards in that area or above. It’s not realistic to assume that you’ll see a $10,000 limit with all of your cards or 400 or $500.
That being said, Comenity Store cards are an entirely different animal than most cards. They are almost always SP, unless your unfortunate enough to check the box that authorizes the credit report. The one thing I also have noticed is that the amount of a CLI DOES DEPEND upon the income level that your report when you’re asked for your income when you’re requesting the CLI
For example, on a VS card, someone that makes $50,000 per year and reports that income may see a $200- $300 increase. Someone that reports a $200,000 income, for example, will probably see 500 to 1000
I'm pretty sure the fact that I got a COLA increase in my salary at New Year's helped me get my most recent CLI on Overstock; I'm just waiting for the first paycheck with the new rate to come in so that I know what my net (as opposed to gross) income is before requesting a CLI on Walmart and Amazon (Synchrony, unlike the other issuers I patronize, requests net rather than gross income). I'm expecting another raise in the next month or so if I get a within-grade increase, and that will also help with future CLI requests. I got a QS Visa with $10K last week which I expect to help drive up future CLI's and SL's as well.
Joe8185 you reference the Overstock Card ... isn't that card issued by the First National Bank of Omaha? Just did a Google search and that is the issuer name that came up.
