Had a bunch of gas cards, late 60's.
First modern-type CC: 1975. Bank of America "Bankamericard", morphed into Visa subsequently.
Card looked just like what became the yellow-white-blue Visa logo. No memory of CL, nor of
circumstances of applying. At that time, I was a graduate student in California. Still have that
card, my oldest account.
My first credit card was a Discover card that my mother co-signed for issued back in 1989 limit was $3000
I felt like I was on top of the world that was big for a 17 y/o back then. Shortly there after I applied to a bank called Harris Bank for a Visa and was approved on my own for 1,500 I was working at The Golden Arches at the time with a salary of about 5.85 hr those were some tough days. I don't know if Harris bank is still around but they had some new bank products they were always sending something to me in the mail pre-approval this pre-approval that.
I'll have to check it out.
1990 (when I turned 18 my mom co-signed to help me establish credit)
USAA Mastercard
(sadly gone in my bankruptcy & they won't offer me anything now)
$1,000 limit
1979 - JC Penny. The card was a victim of my DMP program so its closed now. Still on my CR report though.
