Re: Members: When did you open your first CC and where?

right before i went off to college, i received a capital one card with a $500 limit.  while at college (for the whopping 5 months i made it), i applied for & received an MBNA card with a $1000 limit.  both charged off about a year later.  not as responsible as i thought Smiley Wink

Re: Members: When did you open your first CC and where?

Had a bunch of gas cards, late 60's.

First modern-type CC: 1975.  Bank of America "Bankamericard", morphed into Visa subsequently.

Card looked just like what became the yellow-white-blue Visa logo. No memory of CL, nor of

circumstances of applying. At that time, I was a graduate student in California.  Still have that

card, my oldest account.

Re: Members: When did you open your first CC and where?

My first credit card was a Discover card that my mother co-signed for issued back in 1989 limit was $3000Smiley Very Happy

I felt like I was on top of the world that was big for a 17 y/o back then. Shortly there after I applied to a bank called Harris Bank for a Visa and was approved on my own for 1,500 I was working at The Golden Arches at the time with a salary of about 5.85 hr those were some tough days. I don't know if Harris bank is still around but they had some new bank products they were always sending something to me in the mail pre-approval this pre-approval that.

I'll have to check it out.

1991: Discover card. I wanted the free water bottle and backpack. Smiley HappyThey had a table set up in front of the student center at college. I was approved, and the card has grown with me over the years. Back when I first applied, it was hardly accepted anywhere.

Re: Members: When did you open your first CC and where?

I opened my first CC when I finished with HS. It was a Chase Sony visa with a $500 limit. I have changed it to a chase freedom plus and is up to 6K.

Re: Members: When did you open your first CC and where?

I applied for and received my first credit card from JCPenney in 1990. Shortly thereafter, I applied for a Chase Visa at school, and was given a $300 limit. I still have that Chase card, limit $44k today.
