Message from AMEX

I applied for two cards from american express and for both cards I got this message:

 

Thank you for applying for the THE CARD NAME. We value your membership and appreciate your interest in another American Express Card. According to our records, you submitted more than one application for a similar American Express Card so we've cancelled the duplicate request.

 

However, your original application has been reviewed and we are happy to inform you that you were approved. Your new Card has been sent to you and can be activated online atamericanexpress.com/activate or by calling the number on your Card. You may then use your Card immediately and start enjoying the benefits of Cardmembership.

 

I asked this questioned yesterday but everyone just assumed I was approved. My question is are they just pulling my old application up and using it for these cards because I made sure not to double click submit on the 2nd application. I applied last night for one and just like 10 minutes ago for the other.  Has anyone else ever had this happen and still had the new card come?

Did you check the application status website? All apps are listed there with their individual status.

I have yes. It says cancelled and when you go into the section it says more information about the decision it gives me that message.

I would call and ask them about your app status. Sounds like the website picked up only one app not both. Good luck!

Well I got the message for two different cards not just one.

Your best bet is to call they can give you the most current information.

I've gotten that before. They consider some cards to be in the same family and will simply cancel your app. You'll have to call or wait again to apply. The approval they refer to is the card you already have.

which two cards did you apply for? If it's for Gold and Green or Platinum I understand why they would deny, but if it's like Starwood and Gold I can't see them doing this.

Give them a call easily cleared up good luck

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
